As the chief of police in Paris's seventh arrondissement, Commissaire Adamsberg has no jurisdiction in Ordebec. Yet, he cannot ignore a widow's plea. Her daughter Lina has seen a vision of the Ghost Riders with four nefarious men. According to the 1000-year-old legend, the vision means that the men will soon die a grisly death. When one of them disappears, Adamsberg races to Ordebec, where he becomes entranced by the gorgeous Lina - and embroiled in the small Normandy town's ancient feud.

I'm breaking up with setups. No more “you should meet my son, nephew, grandson, the butcher, the guy down the street who mows my lawn.” People mean well, but machines know better, so I'll rely on the great dating algorithms of the web to find my ideal man, thank you very much. Soon enough, it looks like I’ve found him - his screen name is Lucky Suit, and he’s hilarious, quick-witted, and full of heart. But when we finally get together in person, I have the distinct feeling I’ve met him before. Funny enough - he says the same thing about me.

I have been on a run of disappointing choices, however this is NOT one of them. This Doesn't Happen in the Movies (Book 1) was peppered with humor, mystery and suspense and I did enjoy it. Johnny Peppers narrates with his own brand of charm. Though a bit corny and quirky, I found it a pleasant distraction. Reel Estate Rip-Off (Book 2) was as satisfying as the first and I got a kick out of the film noir in which Ferguson discusses throughout. Thank you to author Renee Pawlish. The Maltese Felon (Book 3) is an equally good book featuring a series of dog-nappings that Ferguson solves. “Elvis and the Sports Card Cheat" (Bonus Short Story) finishes this box set with the equally expert talents of “Pawlish and Peppers” [sounds like a delicious meal].

This was a daily special and I am so happy I chose it. Not my usual genre, so I was pleasantly surprised at this exciting and fascinating story. Narration is absolutely perfection, thanks to the phenomenal Rob Shapiro. Kudos to brilliant author Tom Wood for allowing me to be introduced to the dark, handsome, threatening and mysterious assassin, Victor, someone I should probably dislike. However, I found him intriguing, seductive, exciting, all the while, cheering him on. Crush on Victor. Absolutely! Wood and Shapiro combine their extraordinary talents that lead us all over the world on an exhilarating adventure as we meet some gripping, dangerous and treasonous characters. Twists, turns, secrets and surprises throughout. I am looking forward to more books in this series. Intensely high recommendation. Ya just gotta love Victor! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
