Lucy and Owen, ambitious, thoroughly-therapized New Yorkers, have taken the plunge, trading in their crazy life in a cramped apartment for Beekman, a bucolic Hudson Valley exurb. They've got a 200-year-old house, an autistic son obsessed with the Titanic whose verbal ticks often sound like a broken record, and 17 chickens, at last count.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

no, I got tired of the political view of the writer. I felt like she was lecturing about recycling, gay rights, transgender causes, which were not necessary for the story line. For example, she mentioned a happy gay couple in the beginning of the book, and never mentioned them again, what was the point? And she described the only conservative in the story as a rich, heartless bigot. I listen to books to get away from this kind of bias, not to have it intertwined in the story.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Get off the political soap box

What about Ellen Archer’s performance did you like?

it was OK

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

not at all

Adam Dearborn has just been adopted into the Grayson family when he comes upon two boys huddled inside his sister’s warm greenhouse. Adam had hoped to have time alone with his sweetheart, Rebecca, but December snow is falling hard and the poorly clothed, hungry boys need his help. Adam takes them home never expecting the arrangement could become permanent. Being an only son is not a position Adam wants to give up, not does he want to share Rebecca’s affection with the older boy.

If you could sum up Sleigh of Hope (Grayson Brothers, Book 5) in three words, what would they be?

not long enough

What does Julia Motyka bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She has a great voice and ability to put feeling into the books.

Any additional comments?

I have heard all the series, and like them, but really, 3 hours? This story should have been added as a side story to one of the other books or it should have been offered as a bonus for buying a new book. Way too short to pay full price.
