Those eyes belong to Alija Bell. She runs, but Kasheef sees her face, and he tells her that it's best for her to get temporary amnesia. Afraid for her life and the safety of her daughter, she keeps her mouth shut, but when a tape of the murder surfaces, the only face that is visible is Alija's. Two girls who grow up to become women...two friends who become something worse than enemies. In this brilliantly imagined novel, Toni Morrison tells the story of Nel Wright and Sula Peace, who meet as children in the small town of Medallion, Ohio. Their devotion is fierce enough to withstand bullies and the burden of a dreadful secret.

I can't even hear the story to know if it's good. I'm extremely disappointed. He voice is extremely low and her voice is slightly above a whisper. it sounds like she's reading a bed time story.

Corporate attorney Hannah DuPont-Lowell always pictured herself returning to New Orleans to retire - just not yet. But after her Manhattan company abruptly lays off its staff, there's no better place to figure out a next move than the porch of her plantation-style home. Nestled in the stunning Garden District, the DuPont House has been in Hannah's family for two centuries. With its 18 rooms and two guesthouses, it's far more home than widowed Hannah needs. Still, it could make a wonderful inn, especially if she can convince her friends and former coworkers to join in the venture.

I really feel there could have been a more passionate story for the book to take place in New Orleans There wasn't much suspension or thrills. I love new Orleans and I don't think the city that lives within was felt. Perhaps the characters should have been in a smaller town. I'd prefer if the main character was someone I could see myself in.

If the entire series is from the Charleston area then why not use a narrator who was from Charleston that could speak geechee and have a real southern accent. it took away from the book.

I lived in LA and the North East . The Spanish accents were horrible and everyone sounded like they were from Michigan. The story was very close to me and I could relate. I'm disappointed about the ending so that's why I gave a 4. Other than that it would be a 5
