There's nothing like a good deli, and the Red River Deli in Trenton is one of the best. World-famous for its pastrami, cole slaw, and for its disappearing managers. Over the last month, three have vanished from the face of the earth, and the only clue in each case is one shoe that's been left behind. The police are baffled. Lula is convinced that it's a case of alien abduction. Whatever it is, they'd better figure out what's going on before they lose their new manager, Ms. Stephanie Plum.

I think either Janet has found a ghost writer or she wants to end this series by destroying it. The story line is terrible, most of the characters are not consistent with other books and why do we have to have paranormal in a series that is supposed to be a humorous mystery series????? I think this series has come to its end - and it had been great.

Larry Virgil skipped out on his latest court date after he was arrested for hijacking an eighteen-wheeler full of premium bourbon. Fortunately for bounty hunter Stephanie Plum, Larry is just stupid enough to attempt almost the exact same crime again. Only this time he flees the scene, leaving behind a freezer truck loaded with Bogart ice cream and a dead body—frozen solid and covered in chocolate and chopped pecans.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I feel like the characters were not true to the previous books. Ranger was dumb and unimaginative as was Morelli and everyone else! The story was hard to follow and boring - the story felt forced and tired. I love the books and the characters but I think the author has tired of them

Would you ever listen to anything by Janet Evanovich again?

Yes, I think she is a great author and I love this series but I found that the other series she is writing are predictable and dull now too

Which scene was your favorite?

None - the book was flat

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The narrator is excellent as always

Any additional comments?

I hope there is another book in the series if the author can make the story richer and full of humor and mystery and bring the characters back to life.

America's favorite bounty hunter is back behind the wheel in her fifth hilarious, high-octane thriller. Out of bail skippers and rent money, Stephanie Plum strikes out on her own. Okay, so a scumball blows himself to bits on her first day of policing a crack house, and the sheik she was chauffeuring steals the limo. But hey, nobody's perfect.
