I have just listened to Something in the Water for the second time. It is totally captivating. Fantastic plot that really comes alive with narrator and author Catherine Steadman’s voice. She does a fantastic “read”. Love her voice.

If you could sum up Into the Darkest Corner in three words, what would they be?

Dark psychological thriller.

What did you like best about this story?

The story keeps you afraid of what comes next and wanting to listen to more. I can't wait to start a boring task just so I can listen to more of the book. I am almost finished and will listen again.

What does David Thorpe and Karen Cass bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The accents are spot on and add a depth to the book and that are not possible if reading.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I just can't pick one particular moment that moved me more. It is a spectacular read.

Would you try another book from Carl Hiaasen and/or Arte Johnson?

Each time I try another book for Hiaasen I am disappointed. The first book I listened to was very funny and I kept expecting more of the same humor. This one is totally boring and I can not remember any of it. As it was playing in my ear, my mind wandered to other things. That's how I knew this book was not for me.

Would you ever listen to anything by Carl Hiaasen again?

I don't think I will ever get sucked into another Hiaasen book.

What didn’t you like about Arte Johnson’s performance?

Oh, is that who read the book? Obviously his performance did not impress.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Anger, sadness and disappointment were all of my reactions. Anger that I had once again I tried to listen to a Hiaasen book, sadness that I used a credit, and disappointment because it was a waste of my time and money.

Would you consider the audio edition of Her Last Breath to be better than the print version?

I can't compare the audio of Her Last Breath with the print version because I do not have the print version. The audio as narrated by Kathleen McInerney could not be any better if I had read it myself. She portrays Kate Burkholder exactly as I imagined her.

What did you like best about this story?

It's hard to pick the best part of this story because the entire book was spellbinding. It was the most overall best in every category.

Which character – as performed by Kathleen McInerney – was your favorite?

Well, of course, I have to say Kate Burkholder was and is my favorite character. She is totally amazing and believable. I also like Thomasetti for Kate. They go together like vinegar and oil but once shaken up they blend beautifully.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I wanted to listen to this book in one sitting but made myself stop and wait. I just did not want it to end. It was so incredibly suspenseful near the end that the hair on my neck literally stood on end.

Any additional comments?

Just hope this prolific writer keeps them coming. Can't get enough of the Burkholder books.

If you could sum up The Help in three words, what would they be?

It was fantastic.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked everything about this book. It grabbed me from the very first line and I found myself picking it up and listening at every opportunity.

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The different narrators bring the book to life and it was so authentic sounding.

If you could rename The Help, what would you call it?

I really can't think of a better name for it.

Any additional comments?

I am sorry that I resisted reading it for such a long time. I thought it would totally bring me down but it didn't. So much actual history in there and even though the book was written as fiction it was undeniably true,.

Would you try another book from Neal Stephenson and/or Malcolm Hillgartner?

I doubt it seriously.

Has Reamde turned you off from other books in this genre?

Not necessarily.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

I don't know. He may have done his best with the material he had to work with.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I can't think of a single one. The book was in 5 parts and that is a plus if the book is interesting but it's a definite negative it's one of the most boring listens ever. Sorry to say that I could not finish the first part.

Any additional comments?

Maybe I did not give it a fair chance but I was bored out of my mind and decided not to waste any more of my time.
