The Texas rancher and Navy SEAL who fathered Bristol Lockett's son died a hero's death...or so she was told. Yet when Laramie "Coop" Cooper strolls into her exhibit at an art gallery three years later, he's very much alive - and still making her pulse zing. The all-consuming chemistry between them is as undeniable now as it was then, but Bristol won't risk her heart - or their son's. Little does Bristol know he's determined to win over his unexpected family at any cost!

And I think I was generous with my appropriated stars. First off, I think she should have allowed someone else to narrate the book. GU’s (voice)has a way of trivializing and down playing every situation so none of her stories ever really seem serious or far off from a young girl frolicking around in a privileged community in California. Even though I know they were not bc our lives are very parallel and there was nothing light or funny about the stories. When she tried to be funny, she wasn’t. When she tried to be serious, she was funny.

On the other hand, the book really began at Chapter 15. Aha! Here we have a black woman that has been through some real life challenges and has something to share. I loved Chap 15-Ending hence my generous stars.

GU sells herself short in some areas and takes herself too serious in the others.
