In 1770, Heather Douglas is desperate to escape a brewing scandal in her native Scotland. Penniless and hoping for a fresh start far away, she signs a seven-year indenture and boards a British merchant vessel headed to Virginia. Widowed planter Matthew Stewart needs someone to help raise his two young children. The tall blond standing on the Alexandria quay doesn't look like much after her harrowing sea voyage, but there's a refinement about her that her filthy clothing cannot hide. Could God be leading him to take this unknown indentured servant as his wife?

This book drew me in, leaving me wanting to keep listening to find out the mystery behind why Heather had to leave her home in such a drastic way. This was a very clean book, set in 1770, with religious notes throughout it. I found it very refreshing. There is a sweet love story. Cecily White, did a great job reading this book. My own thoughts started to have an Scottish accent, after listening to this book for a while. I received this book for free, through Audiobook Boom, in exchange for my honest opinion.

When Jenny suddenly wakes to find herself being kissed by a strange - but very handsome - prince, she knows that her boring life of folding laundry could be gone forever. Stuck in a medieval land of castles and royalty, Jenny learns that she is being forced to marry the prince, and she is definitely okay with that. She escapes to find out how to return home while trying to keep from falling love with either of the boys vying for her attention.

The story of Sleeping Beauty, with an interesting twist. What if, when Princess Genevieve (sleeping beauty) was awoken by the prince after 100 years of sleep, but instead of it being the princess who wakes, it’s a teenage girl from our time. There’s magic, fairies, love interests, and of course an evil behind the mysterious situation.
This story was fun, but I would definitely put it in the tween/teen category. For me, it lacked a little something. Maybe it was that everything just seemed to go a little too smoothly with how the caricatures just accepted how some things were. Overall, it was a fun book that I enjoyed.

This was a fantastic second book for the, Apart from the Crowd, series. I loved every minute.
Turano, has captured my attention in a big way. Each caricature is well rounded, with strong personalities. As with the first book, this one has a clean love story, strong female caricatures, plenty of things to chuckle about, and a bit of mystery. I will now eagerly await more of her books to be made into audiobook form.

This is the first book of Jen Turano, that I have come across. I was very pleasantly surprised by how much I loved it. She was able to write about a strong women caricature, and still put a sweet love story in there too. This book has humor, lovable caricatures, a love story, and a mystery too. It's also very clean. I'm very excited to have found this author! I hope she will continue to have more of her books made into audiobook form!!!

What if Jane Austen's most notorious character, Lady Susan Vernon, paid a special visit to Lady Catherine de Bourgh at her grand estate of Rosings Park? Her arrival inadvertently occurs right after Elizabeth Bennet has rejected Mr. Darcy's botched proposal, and the saddened gentleman catches the eye of London's most infamous flirt. The fun begins as Lady Susan plots to sever Darcy from Elizabeth, and claim him for herself. We all know she can't possibly win his heart, but it is a bit of a giggle to watch her try.

Although I cant say this was the best retelling of Pride and Prejudice, it was still very entertaining. The adding of Lady Susan to the mix of drama made for a fun twist. It's 2077. There's no apocalypse, but some things are different. Things like the weather, the Internet, and food. In 12-year-old Clare's world, blueberry is just a flavor and apples are found only in fairy tales. Then one day Clare meets Ana, an older woman who teaches her about seeds and real food. Ana tempts Clare with the notion that food exists other than the square, packaged food she has always known. With Ana's guidance, Clare and her friends learn about seeds and gardening despite suspicions that such actions are illegal.

I have really enjoyed this book series so far. The story continues at a fast pace. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep you engaged throughout the book.I do get pretty irritated with one of the caricatures because they just don't ever seem to learn their lessen. Oh well. I guess we all know someone like that though. This book would be one I can listen to in the car with my kids.

This was an interesting book with a lot of caricature development. Can you find happiness without the "normal" beauty the world expects you to have? Sometimes the hardest things we go through in life; the things that feel like they will break you in a way that you will never be whole again, are the things that help us to become stronger, wiser, and kinder then we ever dreamed posable. This was an inspiring book.

I was really excited about this book because I have such a love for horses. The overall story was cute. Unfortunately, they felt like they needed to throw in some language that just ruined the story for me. I know this won't bother some people, but it's a deal breaker for me. “I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.”
