When magic is up, electricity dies, cars stall, and skyscrapers tumble; when it's down, phones and guns work, and defensive spells can't protect your house from the creatures who stalk the streets. Equally dangerous are the competing factions of The Pack - a highly organized and military clan who governs Atlanta's were-bears, -wolves, and -hyenas - versus the Masters of the Dead, power and knowledge-hungry necromancers whose minds control hordes of blood-crazed vampires.

I saw this series on audible and it had so many good reviews I bought the first two books so that I could start at the beginning and I was not disappointed. This series is incredible, Kate is a badass but one you like, you never know what is going to happen. You stay at the edge of your chair or in your mind waiting to see what will happen, you can't guess. It keeps you enthralled. Kates father is several thousand years old, (Spoiler Alert) He killed her mother and tried to kill her at birth. She has in essence in the first book been in hiding so that he can't find her but events come into play that out her. She is friend to the pack, The largest group of shape shifters in the country. The world in in upheaval, it fluctuates between magic and tech and the people never know when it will change. She meets Curran the beast Lord and boom chemistry. But they have alot of animosity towards each other. He gives her Dereck to act as a body guard. He turns into a wolf. But Kate has her own remarkable traits, she can make her blood turn into body armer or a weapon. She has been trained all her life as a warrior so that one day she can go against her father. I loved Kate, Curran, Dereck, Julie, Angela, et.al. they are like a family. You will never know what is going to happen. Read this series, you won't be sorry.

Mary Sarah Agliotta is just a wonderful reader. She makes the characters jump out at you and the men sound like men and the women sound wonderful. She changes up voices and makes you want to listen to the story. This is a great story and the ending is excellent. Never would have thought of it. Tamara Leigh is an excellent author and a joy to listen to.

Louise Jane Underwood makes the female characters sound like children or idiots and the men Ug. I do not understand why Recorded Books has continued to have her record Jane Ann Krentz aka Amanda Quick's books. They have even had her re-record other books done by excellent readers such as Michael Page and Anne Flosnik. I actually made myself listen to this book, but it was an absolute hardship. I am sure Ms. Underwood is a good reader for other venues but this is not one. It made me hate the story. I would not recommend this book due to the narration. Yuck! There are so many wonderful readers out there. I will not be buying any Amanda Quick audio books read by this narrator. The mechanical voices on my ipod are better. This is just not one of Jane's better stories.

Are we listening to the same book, I loved it and thought it was great. It is a murder mystery that keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Jack Rayner was contracted to become the new security expert for a chain of hotels he didn’t think that his job would consist of doing background checks on the men that his boss Madeline was dating. Nor did he think that he would be thrown into an eighteen year old cover up involving a twelve year old Madeline, and her best friend Daphne.
Before opening up his own security firm with his brother Abe, Jack was a criminal profiler for the FBI. Now he has a new profile to figure out, but the stakes are much higher. This criminal is after his client Madeline. Although, Madeline drives him crazy an even tried to fire him after the death of her grandmother, he is drawn to her and vows to keep her safe. Madeline and Jack have and intense chemistry which is obvious to everyone around them even though each one of them states that they don't do relationships. Abe and Daphne seem to be doing ok together too.
This is a great and sometimes complex story that not only has your anxiety level rising, it also has a delicious sense of humor that will bring out a giggle in spite of the drama of the story. Just when you think you have it figured out it takes a different turn and keeps on going. Its fun getting to peel away the layers.

Some times a characters book doesn't seem to be as great as the character. Not so with Shadow's End, Graydon's story. He is so good and true and honorable just a great person. Thea takes you back in time to let you know that Beluviel has been in love for Gray and he with her for 200 years. They are being kept apart by the pariah djinn Malphas. Bel’s son racked up a debt he could not pay and lost part of his soul to the djinn. All the characters from the other books are gathered together to fight the worst foe there is, Malphas the first generation djinn. Julian and Melly are there, Carling and Rune, Grace Andreas' and Khalil, from Demonkind and many others. They are all going after this enemy. He has been murdering, enslaving, soul stealing and trying to takeover elvenkind, and the other domains. If you haven't read the other books you might be a little confused but Harrison fills in the gaps but you will know you have missed some things. It is the most incredible story, you will need kleenex, and time to enjoy the story. As you know some will die, but the story is heartwarming as well as heartbreaking. Sophie Eastlake does a wonderful job with the story and makes it even more meaningful. Listen and enjoy. If you loved the Elder Races stories this is one of the best.

Since time immemorial the Spires have sheltered humanity, towering for miles over the mist-shrouded surface of the world. Within their halls aristocratic houses have ruled for generations, developing scientific marvels, fostering trade alliances, and building fleets of airships to keep the peace. Captain Grimm commands the merchant ship Predator. Fiercely loyal to Spire Albion, he has taken their side in the cold war with Spire Aurora, disrupting the enemy's shipping lines by attacking their cargo vessels.

Loved, Loved, loved this new story. I loved the cats thought they were great and brought alot to the story. It was kinda like the Spellsinger Series by Alan Dean Foster where the animals talked. The evil that has been gone for thousands of years is awakening. There is a war beginning between Spire Albion and Spire Aurora. Captain Grimm commands the merchant ship Predator who is right in the middle of everything. Grimm is offered a proposition from the Spirearch of Albion to help the people and he will repair his ship. There are etheralists Fredick and Holly and warrior bred men. And of course Gwen, who is very outspoken and is from one of the royal houses who has joined the group as a warrior with her cousin Benadick. The Spirearch forms a team with Bridget who is called Little Mouse by her cat Raills who is arrogant and the others. There is great detail about the Spires, the Aeronauts and their air ships the lands and the people. It was wonderful listening as Euan Morton did a wonderful job with all..... the different voices including the cats. Its well worth the credit and now I just can't wait for the next book in the series.

Ashford McNab was a wonderful narrator with the character voices making each distinct, and thank you for not making Lady Phoebe have a lisp. It was easy to follow along because of her wonderful narration. Mrs. Hoyt had well developed characters with flaws and great strength of character. The two individuals Captain James Trevillion & Lady Phoebe Batten seem to be made for each other.(Spoiler Alert) As Phoebe was being kiddnapped it was Captain Trevillion to the rescue. And Phoebe just knew he would save her. Her brother Maximus Batten (we met him in Duke of Midnight) loved Phoebe very much and did not think James was good enough for her after all he was only a retired dragoon. I had an entirely different view of the Captain in: Notorious Pleasures, after all he tried to capture Griffin Remmington who ended up marrying Lady Hero Batten. Didn't like him at all then, Now I just adore him, he was a wonderful hero willing to lay down his life for his lady. All in all great read, well worth a credit.

This is a wonderful conclusion of the Crusader Series. We met all the interesting characters in the first book The Crusader such as King Richard, A medieval knight from the crusades Kieran Hage, Rory & Bud the archeologists, Simon, the incredible Alchemist, although I liked it a lot Kingdom Come was better it was a great romance with all of those characters plus Kieran's brothers, wives, prince John, Uself the Moslem, etc. It had romance, chilling suspense, murder and a love that defies time. I will definitely listen to and read again. The Narrator Brian Gill was excellent, he had Kieran's voice spot on. Wow. A pleasure to listen to. Buy it, you will not be sorry but get the Crusader first.

The reign of King John means dark days for all of England. Not one man, woman, or child lived without fear. Magnifying this fear is the man they call The Lord of the Shadows - a terrifying figure who sits at the right hand of the King, manipulating the royal moves like a puppet master. The Lord of the Shadows has been known to tear men apart with his bare hands and can, with a snap of his fingers, alter the future of anyone he chooses.

Mr. Wills does the most incredible job with this story. Each charactor has a very distinctive and correct in character voice, its really fun and enjoyable listen to. The story of Sir Sean de Lara and Lady Sheridan St. James has intrigue, passion, story twists and is just plain enjoyable. Lady Alice Sheridan's sister is an idiot and causes all kinds of problems but Brad Wills makes the story exciting and a joy to listen to. Sean is called the Shadow Lord and has to do terrible things to stay close to the king and keep his confidence. But is he really evil? You have to read and or listen to to find out. This is a keeper for me. Any other comments would give the story away. But know that Brad Wills does an incredible and wonderful job with the book and you will very much enjoy listening to it. Purchase it you will not be sorry.
