For as far back as she can remember, Airiana Ridell has always been aware of her extraordinary gift. She can intuit revealing and illuminating "patterns" in the air around her - whether in a spray of mist, in billowing clouds, or in the dense swirls of an impenetrable fog. Her abilities led to her placement in a secret government training facility when she was a child, but everything changed after her mother was murdered.

I have to admit to defeat. I can usually get past any narrator, but on behalf of women everywhere, I have to say that his rendition of any female voice was both painful and offensive. I could only get part way through ch 2 without throwing my phone against the wall. Do publishers never actually listen? I will be returning this book. After a while, I may be able to read the book without hearing Gigante in my head. i really enjoyed the previous books and this just makes me sad.

It was a typical evening at a mall outside Portland, Maine. Three teenage friends waited for the movie to start. A boy flirted with the girl selling sunglasses. Then the shooters arrived. The chaos and carnage lasted only eight minutes before the killers were taken down. But for those who lived through it, the effects would last forever. But one person wasn't satisfied with the shockingly high death toll at the DownEast Mall. And as the survivors slowly heal, find shelter, and rebuild, they will discover that another conspirator is lying in wait - and this time, there might be nowhere safe to hide.

While reading this book, I was constantly struck by the feeling that everything was being rushed.. Cramming everything in to make one "happy" ending. This made for lots of unbelievable occurances, but that was typical for the series. Glad its over.

This was a good story. The narrator's characters were difficult to distinguish many times. With many names in the storyline, more marked differences in the main characters would have been nice. Otherwise, the narrator's voice is nice. Wasn't thrilled with the ending, but overall I enjoyed the story.
