To forget is to repeat !!

It is a totally unbelievable thing of how quickly "we" forget what these precious souls have endured under the realization of evil NOT stopped.

Are you listening? These blessed souls lived through the "all is well" "we can talk to them" "they love peace" if we do not learn from the words of these wonderful souls who lived, breathe, and endured the hatred of a man who said "I only want to help my people" "we want peace, we mean no one any harm"

Can you imagine a group of people breaking down your door and beating you with a perfect hatred and your family divided and you remember those who raised the alarm; do they sound stupid now, are they now alarmists???

Please read this book and remember they once lived in peace and prosperity. I highly recommend this book.

In the third and last volume of this vivid history, Shelby Foote brings to a close the story of four years of turmoil and strife which altered American life forever. Here, told in rich narrative and as seen from both sides, are those climactic struggles, great and small, on and off the field of battle, which finally decided the fate of this nation.

The civil war was truly a defining moment in American history ! Shelby Foote was a man who through his pen brought us face to face with the titanic figures of this war. He brings us into the personal lives of so many "yankees" and "rebs" common foot soldiers, officers, Generals, civilans, and the common folk; I found it both terrifing and unbelievable as letters are read, relationships long since gone into history once again alive and breathing life into my ears.

I laughed heartily and I cried deeply for the people of this historical event called the Civil War. I love Shelby's way of writing and his gentle, warm southern charm; this comes seeps through the book everywhere. The late Mr. Foote was brutally honest to both sides and maintain a fair and very well balanced view of the civil war.

I cannot do this book justice in writing this review by my words - this book - The Civil War by Shelby Foote is something that you Audible listener MUST experience for yourself !! As you listen time fades away as you stand transfixed on the events unfolding right there before your eyes and ears.

Every single person must listen to this book as it touchs on every single issue that you will every encounter in your life. Download this book now YOUR experience is waiting !! :)

England 1760-1815. With the advent of the Regency period the Blackadder's family fortune has rather plummeted. Edmund Blackadder, butler to the Prince Regent, veers from calamity to disaster with very little in the way of constructive help from either his imbecile Lord and master the Prince Regent or the mouse-brained Baldrick.

The enigma of Alexander the Great has remained with us for 2,300 years. In spite of the best efforts of historians, Alexander is no less a mystery to us now than he probably was during his own lifetime. There was no one like him before or since. In the pages of Harold Lamb's intriguing Alexander of Macedon, we find some of the answers to the great riddle of his character.

Alexander of Macedon by Harold Lamb, is a brillant essay on the life and times of a colossus figure from history Alexander the Great.

From beginning to the end is a terrific listen and it holds you by the throat at times as you find yourself sitting at council with Alexander and his men, next you are in the heat of battle, and than you hear the faint talk of men in the camp as your eyes slowly close by the crackling fire.

Please download this book it is a great collection for your audio library. I have it in mine :)

The seventeenth century was one of the most fascinating and seminal periods in European history, particularly with regard to France. For it was here in France that the fruits of the earlier Renaissance were to be most brilliantly realized. Although the path of "greatness" for Louis XIV was prepared for him by men like Richelieu, Mazarin, Colbert, Turenne, and Louvois, it was during his reign that French preeminence in all facets of civilization emerged.

The life of spendor, and of self, where you as king could well said what Mel Brooke said"It's good to be the king" ! It was of course not "good to be poor"

This is a well written book that is both candid and explantive in the areas covered. Again wealth beyond measure, in a time of need and frustration.

I heartily recommend this book as a delightful read and a true experience to be enjoyed !!

Mr. Ron Rosenbaum not only reveals new insights into the horrible person of Hitler but also looks at the other persons views and distortions.

This volume is dominated by the almost continual confrontation of great armies. For the fourth time, the Army of the Potomac (now under the control of Burnside) attempts to take Richmond, resulting in the bloodbath at Fredericksburg. Then Joe Hooker tries again, only to be repulsed at Chancellorsville as Stonewall Jackson turns his flank, a bitter victory for the South, paid for by the death of Lee's foremost lieutenant.

This is the only comedy that is very greatly enjoyed by either watching it or listening to it !!
British comedy is the best and bightest when it uses it's dry and wildly funny wit, as found in Fawlty Towers.
