I want to begin by saying that I enjoyed Enhancer. It is entertaining, well-written, and the narrator gave an excellent performance. The book really does feel like a (male) nerd's fantasy.

I was a little disappointed with the end, which does not feel like a conclusive end to the book. I realize that it can be very hard in series to simultaneously wrap each book up and to provide continuity. When I finished 'Enhancer,' I definitely didn't feel like any of the major plot points had been resolved.

One of my favorite things is when I can get a complete series, or even a set of books within a series, all for one credit. It was especially handy in this case, since I would have wanted to continue the series to see what happened.

So, some things I really liked about Dragon's Gift: The Protector:
- The whole series is included
- Likable characters
- Interesting plotline
- Good narrator

Something that bogged me down:
- A little too much action. The series begins with some extended action. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for some action, but it was too much before I was emotionally invested in any characters. Even in later books I often found myself zoning out during the long action sequences, and I occasionally had to backtrack so that I could figure out what had happened.

Overall, I recommend the series! If you are like me, you may want to up the speed during the action, though.

I spent some time this weekend searching through Audible's library. I was in the mood for some sci-fi with a side of romance. I wasn't sure if Overload Flux would fit the bill, but it definitely did! I realized within the first 5-10 minutes of listening that I was hooked. I liked the story, really enjoyed the main characters, and the narrator was an excellent choice for the book. I normally listen to books at 2x speed, but I had to back up to 1.5x for this book so that I could catch all the details (a good thing!). I doubt it will be long before I listen again.

In short: I recommend!

I'm always up for a good fairy tale retelling. This one involves magic and a dragon shifter - bonus! I also appreciate the strong heroine. Though it takes her longer than it should to figure out the "beast," she stands up for herself and others.

I really enjoyed Hand and Talon. The world was interesting, our main three protagonists are compelling, and I am definitely looking forward to seeing what happens in the next book (there will be one, right?!).

I think readers/listeners who enjoy Eragon, The False Prince, or other YA bildungsromane will also enjoy this story.

Kristin James did a good job as narrator. My only complaint is that some of the voices she used were a little breathy, which made it more difficult for me to follow along when I was listening with a portable speaker. With a better speaker and less background noise on my end, it should be less of an issue.

The Trateri are about to learn a vital lesson of the Broken Lands. Deep in the remote expanse where anything can happen, it pays to be on a pathfinder's good side. Nobody ventures beyond their village. Nobody sane, that is. Monstrous creatures and deadly mysteries wait out here. Luckily for the people she serves, Shea's not exactly sane. As a pathfinder, it's her job to face what others fear and find the safest route through the wilderness. It's not an easy job, but she's the best at what she does.

I don't normally write reviews, but I felt like I should since there aren't any others available yet. I really enjoyed this book (story & narration). I expected to like it based on the description, but the ratings kept me from having high expectations.

I think my favorite aspect of Pathfinder's Way is the heroine. So many books, especially those with romance elements, can be ruined by a heroine who is weak, whiny, self-absorbed, overly pushy, or constantly doing things that are just plain idiotic or embarrassing. Shea is not that heroine. She is smart, capable, and believable, while still having faults that make her easy to identify with.

The book is well-written and enjoyable; there are at least a couple scenes that I found absolutely delightful. I definitely recommend that you give this book/audiobook a try! It is an audiobook I will listen to again.
