Fritz Marschall knew that neither he, nor his friend, should really have been there. They, like many others before them, had been attracted to the lake by the many rumors that had been circulating. He thought of the endless stories there had been, of treasures sunken in or buried around the lake. He recalled the stories of the lake being used to develop torpedoes and rockets during the war. Looking out across the dark water, he wondered what secrets were hidden beneath the surface.

I really enjoyed this book! It has a little of everything. Nazi Treasure, espionage, murder, blackmail and revenge. It starts in 1955 when two friends set out to see if rumors of sunken treasure are true. They are!
The story takes off from there and keeps you reading to see what happens next.
Anyone who enjoys good mysteries will love this. It’s not as technical as the new mystery and thriller books can be, which is one reason I enjoyed it. Excellent narrator, first time I’ve listened to him.
This was the first John Holt book I’ve listened to but it won’t be the last.
I was sent this audiobook to review and I am so happy I did.

In a world where magic is mundane, soothsayer Journi McCutcheon's love of black lipstick and sarcasm is the oddest thing about her. Being clairvoyant isn't glamorous, but it pays the bills. Mostly. When an ordinary sooth goes awry, however, revealing that a child's life - and maybe the entire city - is in danger, it's up to her to save them.

Millions of threads so thin as to be invisible, so vaporous as to be ductile, drift through the classroom, emitting a chill and leaving a sense of unease. Hidden deep in their cloaks, the Blue Lights analyze the odors that cling to the individual cells of every child, from the top of each little head to the bottom of their ticklish feet and every dark secret place in between, from their gathering brains to their blood-soaked spleens. One girl feels dizzy; one boy throws up.

Who is the psychopath, mom,dad or the gal with no name?
Have fun figuring it out.
Ms. Fox is the new breed of horror writers. Looking forward to reading and listening to more of her work.

Dr. Victor Kraus labored tirelessly as a wildlife ecologist, passionately striving to use science and reformed policies to curtail the human activities driving global warming and fueling the sixth mass extinction. When Victor realized that nothing would stop the number of species being lost to human greed and overconsumption, he resorted to using the only weapon left in his arsenal: the first mass human extinction. A highly lethal engineered virus was developed and disseminated around the world to reduce the human population to one billion people. As the viral apocalypse detonated across the globe, the virus destroyed billions of lives and delivered fear and chaos to every corner of the earth. With the pandemic running rampant, a Montana virologist working on a vaccine, recruited an unlikely group of friends to help him hunt down an increasingly brazen Victor, stop the virus, and save what is left of humankind.

Amazing first book by authors who really know their subject matter!
A genius virologist has a devastating plan to conquer over population and famine: complete extinction of the human race to insure that the earth and all it’s inhabitants ( except for humans) will return to its previous glory and beauty.
His plan is almost perfect. Start a viral epidemic that sweeps across the world and kills every man women and child. But, when some people survive and figure out what he’s done and who and where he is, the chase is on.
In the midst of the total breakdown of society and the horrors that brings with it, the insane doctor leaves a trail of death that determined people follow in the hopes of bringing the madman and his followers to justice and to a vaccine.
Good writing, interesting and real life characters and an amazing grasp of the perils of uncontrolled science, turns this book into an addicting story, impossible to put down!
Really hope the second book in this series is available soon.
