Carin Douglas is a fearless young girl, thrust into the role of a stickup kid alongside Brooklyn's most notorious thugs. She learns to fight, to survive, and to shine through a series of events that take her from a young girl on the verge to a designer-clad diva with a hot car, an even hotter man, and a million skeletons in her closet. When Carin meets Monty, aka "Money Monty", he sweeps her off her feet with one romantic gesture after another. I almost quit listening to this book so many times because I kept thinking that this has to be the dumbest b*tch in the world. There ain't that much love in the world to continually allow yourself to be brutalized, especially when you have options. This book is 10 hours long on Audible, and I swear 8 of those hours were spent detailing the main character's abuse. Too drawn out. The author could've spent some time following up with the mother. Nicole Small as narrator was brilliant per usual. The selfless young boy who was there for the main character from the first chapter just dropped out of sight, never to return. I really thought the title meant that they would see each other again to give us all closure! Nope. The book is good, but as an avid reader big discrepancies stand out to me. Also, how does Monty spend extravagantly for years after being awarded only 1 million dollars? I mean, EXTRAVAGANTLY!

Of all the McClain couples, I like Sage and Neal best. I thought Leland and Kim were my faves until this book. I love the twists and surprises in this book. Just when you think you know who did what, it's actually someone else. The sexual tension in this one was so fire! Neal is my kind of man. Loving, protective, outspoken, conscious, talented, smart and a freak! How can you get any better? I thought he was the weakest brother, but now I see Neal in a whole new light. Loved this book! I'm so glad that the narrators have been consistent throughout the series, too! They are both very talented and really make these characters real! Kudos to them!!

I wonder if Ashley knew that she was creating the book boyfriend of tens of thousands of women with "Ethic", the main character in this series? This story is masterfully written. The characters come alive on the page and you actually find yourself thinking about them during your day. Rich conversations about relationships can be had with friends and coworkers online and off, after books like this. That is the mark of a great storyteller. Ashley is gifted. We are so blessed that she created this force that is Ethic, and wish that we could find our own "Ezra Okafor" in real life.

The book was just okay. The first story, Sibling Rivalry is forgettable at best. I just read the book and I can't remember what it was actually about. I do remember that it was the traditional good twin/ bad twin scenario. The second story was the best. I think Ty Marshall should develop the story into a full novel. East has the makings of a charismatic main character akin to Ethic from Ashley Antionette or even Carter Jones from The Cartel series. The last story was so contrived and anticlimactic, I was just annoyed. I've never read anything by Marlon PS White before. I hope that this isn't representative of what his writing is really like. He attempted to present two major storylines and reconcile them at the end, but it just ended up being a mess to me. I kept rewinding and listening again to figure out what was going on. Anyway....I didnt write all of this to discourage people , I really didn't, it was just okay. The way the narrator said the word , DICK, so dramatically every time made me burst out laughing. He gave DICKS as much emphasis as the main characters. 🤣🤣🤣

My name is Pet. My story is going to break your heart. The first thing you should know about me is that I'm a good girl. I follow directions. I bend at the waist. I do anything and everything my King tells me to. But King is demanding. King is dangerous. He wants to hurt me. And there is only one person who can help me run away from King.... Except I don't know if I want to leave him. I don't know if I can. Good pets always obey their master...but what if I want to have two?

There is just too much that I hated to even type it all. I wont waste another minute. And...Audible will be giving me my coins back for this train wreck of a book.

Once again, Carl Weber brings together two literary divas for empowering stories about big, beautiful women. "Lights, Camera, Action" by Treasure Hernandez: Janiyah Wade is a successful plus-size model who almost loses it all when she is sent to prison for three years. Then things work in her favor and she is able to kick-start her career again, but her union with her husband, Gun, is about to be exposed for all to see.
