Ricki Sparks knows she can make a mean red velvet cake but can’t believe she’s let herself be talked into a blind date. When she opens the door to see the man she’s been secretly sweet on since the first day he walked into her bakery, she fears her heart will be demolished. At least she knows she’s in for a wild ride. With a past like his, private investigator Garrett McBride doesn’t feel he’s worthy of a good woman’s love. Especially not Ricki, the sweet, beautiful baker. But its not just her delectable baked goods that keep him coming back and it isn’t long before he admits to himself that he wants her for his own. He never suspects that the greatest danger to her may come not from himself, but from the deceitful woman Ricki has befriended.

This book was about a natural disaster and how it affected people in a small town in the USA. Neighbors banded together to protect themselves and their properties by rogue people who had no supplies and no way to survive.
Great narration by J. Scott Bennett, he brought the characters to live through their voices and emotions.

The narrators were excellent, I especially enjoyed Erin Bateman's voice and the way she brought Rory's character to life.
Definitely will look for more books by this talented author.

Family drama is bad enough without adding magic and human sacrifice. Ten years ago, Paxton Locke's mother killed his father in a mysterious ritual that - thankfully - went incomplete. Now, Paxton makes his living as a roving paranormal investigator, banishing spirits while Mother languishes in jail. When a terrified ghost warns him of a dangerous, newly freed entity, Paxton faces a fight far beyond simple exorcism. In a battle for his very soul, will he be able to endure - or simply fade away?

A superb cast of characters, and an interesting story. Paxton has some psychic abilities and the book starts out with him freeing a woman from a ghost inhabited house. A much more in-depth look at who Paxton is and the trauma he survived and then a new challenge arises.
Interesting, innovative, excellent narration, this book did it all for me.

Scott Bennett is a talented narrator, who is able to do German and Russian accents among various others. His narration brings this story to life and the fear and emotions that the characters feel, the reader can feel as well.

I listened to this story in chunks in the car, as the story is war and the death and destruction is heavy and emotional for the reader.

The author assembled quite the amazing cast of characters especially the American side. The German sniper was a force to be extinguished but he was called the Ghost Sniper for a reason.

Excellent suspense, some historical truths, a touch of romance and a captivating narration make this book and the series a hit for this reader.

If there was such a thing as an urban legend in Cotton Creek, it was Grady Judd. He'd broken the heart of every woman he'd ever kissed, and he'd kissed a plenty. Many tried to rope him, tie him down, and drag him to the altar, but Grady wasn't the marrying kind. Until he showed back up in Cotton Creek this time to discover that he's not the only heart breaker in town, which leads to a whole new game and an entirely new question. Could Grady Judd finally have met his match?

This book was an excellent romance and the narrator's voice made this story come alive for me. The two main characters are both strong-willed and heartbreakers in their own way. Their demons have kept them from letting love inside.
Charlie was the new cop in town and Grady was a rancher and an undercover military man.
Excellent story and I have already listened to it a second time!

June 6, 1944. On the dawn of the D-Day invasion of Normandy, two snipers find themselves fighting a battle all their own. One is a backwoods hunter from the Appalachian Mountains in the American South, while the other is the dreaded German "Ghost Sniper" who earned his nickname on the Eastern Front. Locked in a deadly duel across the hedgerow country of France, the hunter matches wits and tactics against the marksman, both of them one bullet away from victory or defeat as Allied forces struggle to gain a foothold in Europe.

This was a terrific story and the narrator did a fantastic job with at least 4 different nationalities. Loosely based on The D-Day invasion and the war in France. An unlikely group of characters are thrown together to form a sniper group and the chapters bounce between German and U.S. snipers.
This story had everything I want in an audible book, a little romance, lots of suspense and characters you love to hate and those that you cheer on.
Looking forward to Book 2!

This was a terrific audiobook with the most talented narrator Joe Hempel telling the tale. I loved that the little girl was the one who sought out help for her family and their 'ghostly' intruder. The fascinating cast of characters kept the story fresh and original.
I love the 'spirited' receptionist who was bound to her typewriter!
I also appreciated the shorter story making it easy to listen to and to review on the same day!

My name is Frank Butcher, and when I got out of my truck to deliver the last package of the day, I never expected to get blown up by anti-magic zealots. Yeah, you heard me right. I said magic. I didn't know it was a thing either. Now, an ancient artifact is the only thing keeping me alive, and to make matters worse, that artifact is what those cultists wanted. Still, I could have made a run for it, disappeared into South America and spent the rest of my life on a beach.

This was a great audible listen with my favorite narrator, Joe Hempel bringing the story to life for the listener. The story starts off with a bang, after an initial introduction to the main characters. The story had great flow and even though it took multiple sittings to finish the story; it was easy to remember what had happened and I felt excited to get back to the story.
Will look forward to the next book in the series.
