Number-one New York Times best-selling author Charlaine Harris has won numerous awards for her Sookie Stackhouse Southern Vampire series, which has been adapted into the hit HBO show True Blood. In this 13th and final book, a murder rocks the town of Bon Temps and Sookie is arrested for the crime. After making bail, she sets out to clear her name - but her investigation only leads to more deaths.

I've listened to the other books in the series and I'm disappointed at how badly written this one is. The plot was ridiculously thin and seemed cobbled together for the sole purpose of bringing everyone from the other 12 books in. The character's behaviors were inconsistent with the previous books. The entire story reads like badly written fan fiction.

In the LAPD's Open-Unsolved Unit, not many murder victims die almost a decade after the crime. So when a man succumbs to complications from being shot by a stray bullet nine years earlier, Bosch catches a case in which the body is still fresh, but all other evidence is virtually nonexistent. Now Bosch and rookie Detective Lucia Soto, are tasked with solving what turns out to be a highly charged, politically sensitive case.

I have listened to all of these books and was irritated when Connelly changed an often repeated (across several books) memory of Bosch's for a very weak tie-in. It might not be a big deal to some, especially if you haven't read the books in order, but one of the reasons I enjoy reading a series in general is bc you feel like you know the characters already. It snapped me out of the rhythm of the story and left me unable to focus on the remainder.

Would you listen to German Phase 1, Unit 11-15 again? Why?

Yes, I plan to order unit 2 and 3. This is a good way to learn conversational German. I would like there to be more explanation as to the way sentences are supposed to be structured. Although there are many opportunities to repeat and answer after the instructor, I'm still unclear about how to form a sentence on my own. I'm only on lesson 11, so maybe it will come later.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I like that conversations are held between a man and s woman so I can easily differentiate between questions and replies.

Any additional comments?

I read several comments about the missing practice reading material. If you go to audible's full site there is a link to download it.
