My first attempt at listening to this book, I got discouraged because it felt a bit too young for me. Later, I tried again and stuck with it and I'm so glad I did. Such an enjoyable story. Lessman always makes you want to curl up with loved ones and cherish every second. Narrator is brilliant and perfect for this story. Masterfully written and narrated and definitely worth a listen. More Lessman books on audible please!!

I loved every second of this story. It made me smile, tear up and believe again that dreams really can come true. The characters were so endearing and lovable and as real as if I knew them personally. This has definitely won a spot for top 5 books I've ever read/listened to. And btw Eleni Pappageorge is brilliant and gifted. The book wouldn't have been half as successful in its delivery without her voice and personality adding sparks to every page. A magical combo!

While I am a fan of River's early books. I couldn't get past the first few chapters of this. It just felt so heavy and dark. I read/listen to books to be encouraged, not dragged down into a dark pit of someone else's life. That's not helping anyone. Or, if I must be taken into the depths of someone's struggle, let it be in a way that offers light and hope, not leaving me depressed and heavy. I found a few of River's books in recent years to be the same. While the details of some stories can be colorful and enjoyable, the slow, painstakingly long details of a drab life are just that, drab. I believe a writer can make a point of true pain and struggle while also inviting you to enjoy its unfolding and its path to enlightenment through humor and fun characters and a bright narrative. This fell dreadfully short in all ways for me, unfortunately.
