My name is Charlie, and I'm invisible. Well, not literally, but until one of the most popular guys at Eden High saved my life, nobody even knew I existed. Sean Reese gave me more than my life back that night. He gave me friendship. And maybe, just maybe, I can save him, too. Will he still be my friend when he finds out my secret?

BECOMING CHARLIE is the first book in the Becoming series. They will need to be read in the order of release.

Can an author who writes very adult (wink) paranormal novels also write sensitive teenage angst? The answer is YES and extremely well.

I was Charlie when I was a teenager. There were 714 people in my high school graduating class. I doubt you could find ten who knew me by name. I was invisible – probably because I was quietly introverted. Even as an adult, I still feel as though I am invisible most of the time. Charlie’s inner monologues when dealing with others could have come from the soundtrack of my life. In other words: By the end of this book, I felt that there was at least one other person on earth who knew how I felt and they wrote it into a fictionalized story. I must say thank you for that.

I don’t remember driving for the last four days. Instead, I was wrapped in the world of Sean and Charlie. There must have been a million quotable passages.

The definition of a boy had me giggling like mad.
“I am a guy. I’m pretty sure Webster’s definition of ‘guy’ says ‘Human adolescent male. Has a never-ending appetite. Does not ask for directions or use instructions for any reason.’”
I snickered. “You forgot ‘Thinks he knows everything’ and ‘Prone to overreacting and has caveman tendencies.’”
“Yes, those as well. Why do girls even like us?”
I shrugged.
“Because you’re tall and can reach things we can’t.”
“I guess the short guys are out of luck then, huh?”

Today, as I was returning from having the oil changed, I knew I was listening to the epilogue. I knew! Still, I screamed out at the end. I want more. I know the second book will soon be released. I hope the audiobook will follow soon after. I need to know what happens next. (Yes, that should be read in a little girl whiny voice.)

Narration: Melissa Moran is wonderful. As I said, I don’t remember driving as I listened to her beautiful performance in bringing Charlie’s story to life. This is what a good narrator does for me. You relax my demons so that I am not so nervous behind that wheel. Well done!

Note: While I received this book as a gifted audiobook copy, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

OH! EM!! GEE!!! Heroes and true love. Sacrifice and loyalty. All of the big buttons are hit in this amazing conclusion to the Fate of the Alpha.

So much of what I want to say would be spoilers. Gah!!!! All I can say is join me in my love for this series. If you have already read the others, you know you want this book. If you haven’t started, this book makes all of the cliffhangers and angst worth the wait.

Narration: The narrator, Addison Spear, is a wonderful story reader. I would only remind her that there are two r’s in the words library and librarian.

WOLVES OF WISTERIA is the first book in the Wisteria Witches, City Hall series.

I read (and loved) WISTERIA WITCHES; so, I was excited to find out more about (Aunt) Zinnia. This story begins a bit before Wisteria Witches, but can be read either before or after, as there is some overlap by the end.

I LOVED this paranormal cozy mystery from Zinnia’s point of view. She’s snarky, fun, and just a little jaded by life. She’s also still living it! The plot is entertaining and intelligently written.

Her co-workers are like work-mates everywhere. I could almost rename them to the ones in my own office – the troll, the witches, the sexy God, etc.

I did feel like I was missing some insider knowledge. Am I supposed to know why Zinnia has hardened her heart, or will that be revealed in a later book? There are hints and I could make suppositions, but I hate to jump to conclusions. Who is Aiden?

Narration: The narrator, Rosemary Benson, is amazing. I loved listening to her and I’m anxious awaiting another release in this series! I hope she will be giving voice again.

DROWNING IN DECEIT is the fourth book in the Hope Hadley Cozy Mysteries series. They can be read in any order.

I love the simplicity of these cozy mysteries and believe them to be the perfect way to introduce the genre to a preteen.

In this particular one, the first three chapters, which have nothing to do with the murder, are the most fun. I was reminded of a meme I saw years ago, it was a picture of a gator, about 8ft long, clawing at a house door. As I remember, the caption said, “Why we lock our doors in Florida.”

Besides Hope, her brother Joe, and her boyfriend, the supporting characters are whimsical and outlandishly cartoonish making it almost spoof-like.

Don’t take it seriously. Relax and enjoy. Yes. That’s the word – enjoy. There is no stress here.

Narration: Rachel Carr is still rushing her reading. She needs to slow down and enjoy the story as well! On the other hand, she has a beautiful, clear voice with wonderful pronunciation.

This is the fifth book in the Tarker’s Hollow series. They do need to be read in the order of release, as this is a continuing serial.

As I warned you after reading book one, I will warn you again. There is a cliffhanger! This is a serial and it is done in the old fashion style. Do yourself a favor. Have all three books bought in advance so that you can just jump from one to two to three.

The multiple storylines are beautifully woven and kept me on the edge of my car seat as I drove down the highway. This is what I want my audiobooks to do.

In this installment, I found out more about the uniqueness of this world of wolves and magic. They are very lusty and that lust is part of their being wolf – like two halves of the same cookie. What I first saw as slutty (Ophelia), I now appreciate as part of her power. I’m looking forward to seeing how that plays out for Ainsley with Erik’s wolf missing.

Narration: Addison Spear is a fabulous narrator. Her voice and inflection make the story come alive. One gem to her style is that she doesn’t overemphasize the “naughty” words, because she’s comfortable with what she is reading. I find that to be a coveted rarity. Well done!

WHERE THERE’S SMOKE is the second book in the Sweet Sin series. They each stand on their own, but I still wish I had read the first one. I’m insatiable that way!

In Chapter 1, Tatum was repeating her philosophy about chocolate and it was so Zen that I wanted it on a poster. Chocolate cures many things, kids… Chocolate makes people happy because it tastes good. Chocolate is a guilty pleasure … an aphrodisiac... It speaks love without saying a word… I only wish I could capture all of it to share with you here. Instead, I invite you to take a bite. Take a chance and indulge in this literary chocolate.

Yes, I would call this a chocolate – a pleasure I’m glad I took along with me the last few days during my commute to/from work. From the beginning, my emotions were pulled tight and Ms. Coopmans played them like the strings of a harp until the very end.

Narration: This is the first audiobook I have listened to with two narrators. It was fun and I truly liked it. While I loved Lorenzo Matthews’s deep voice more, Lacy Laurel is the better reader.

My final word: When you are ready to release the third book, I’m ready to listen!

WISTERIA WITCHES is the first book in the Wisteria Witches series.

I think I may have found a new favorite in the cozy mysteries! Witches – check. Intelligently crafted - check. Kooky family – check. Witty banter – check. Snark – BIG CHECK! This is the tribe to which I would want membership. I always wanted to be a witch.

Then there is the hunky neighbor and the sexy sparks that are flying any time he is near. Oo-la-la! He has his own mysterious secrets to be explored and a family that keeps him on his toes!

Of course, this is just the first book in a series that already has five releases and one spin-off (with another spin-off planned), so there are plenty of open questions to keep my mind happily wondering what more could be coming. I am looking forward to many happy hours of listening to the adventures of Zara, her daughter, her aunt, and whoever else may grace the pages of these books.

Narration: Tiffany Williams is a fantastic narrator. She is very animated and it feels as if she is relaying her own tale of life. This is definitely not boring, cold reading. I have a feeling she may have started out as a fan of Angela Pepper!

SOUL OF STONE is the first book in the Ice and Stone series. They will need to be read in the order of release.

Of course, now knowing the ending is coloring my perceptions of the beginning. Now I understand why. Now I know how and who. Oh, but the path to get there is heart wrenching, twisted, and magical – so magical.

The plot was imaginative and wonderfully unique.

I wanted to embrace Aaron, Danielle, Jessa, and Piper so many times.

The story was action-packed and the mystery was well written. It kept me guessing nearly to the end.

I loved the interaction between Aaron and Danielle. Their sweetly denied romance is the reason I want the next book in this series.

Narration (3 CROWNS): Amanda Stribling is a good narrator. She speaks very clearly and has a very nice voice, but tends to get a little too rhythmic in her cold reading.

This is the third book in the Tarker’s Hollow series. They do need to be read in the order of release, as this is a continuing serial.

I think my exact words at the end of the book were, “What, no! Now I need the next book, STAT!!” (And I’m not even in the medical field, so stat is not a common term for me.) This is the end of book 1, released in six parts / three audio files, but it is definitely not the end of the series and there is no doubt of that.

Now, what did I think of episodes five and six? They were jaw dropping! Do not think for one minute that you will have anything all figured out. Okay, maybe a few things, it is a werewolf romance after all.

I finally love Ainsley and I love how this has worked out so far. I am jumping up and down to grab the next book – also released in six parts/ three audios (so there will be three reviews). As long as Tasha Black keeps writing them, I’ll keep reading/listening to them.

Narration: Addison Spear is a wonderful narrator. There were two places in the production where a sentence was repeated, but other than that, I found no blatant technical errors.
