Scarlett would do anything to save her unborn baby, even return to a time she never thought she'd see again. Not for a moment had she missed the constant scrutiny of a celebrity life. To reappear now, inexplicably pregnant in the eyes of the modern world would create a media circus, but Scarlett knows she can overcome any obstacles with Laird at her side and the help of new friends drawn together across time itself by the enigmatic Scotsman known as Auld Donell.

I just finished the last book in the “Laird For All Time” series. I'm so happy I stumbled across the author Angeline Fortin, excellent writing, very unique take on time travel, and (as far as I can tell) good scientific explanations. Definitely not the same old love stories, although she does the love story and love scenes very well also.

The narrator, for all books except “Taken”, is Kristen Potter and she is exceptional as always. I don’t know why Antoney Ferguson narrated “Taken” but it was jarring. It’s not that he’s a bad narrator, he just cannot do women’s voices, especially American women (with Southern accents most especially.) Hey! I’m from Alabama, I know. But, I listened to it anyway because the series is just that good.

These books are part of the Romance package making it very worth my time and money.

Stella Lane thinks math is the only thing that unites the universe. She comes up with algorithms to predict customer purchases - a job that has given her more money than she knows what to do with as well as way less experience in the dating department than the average 30-year-old. It doesn't help that she has Asperger's and that French kissing reminds her of a shark getting its teeth cleaned by pilot fish. She decides that she needs lots of practice - with a professional - which is why she hires escort Michael Phan.

I’ve read plenty of Ms. Blakley’s books that l really enjoyed, like Trophy Husband, fun book, fabulous narrator. The moving trilogy about the couple who were recovering sex addics, No Regrets, read by Erin Mallon who narrated this story with so much heart and passion. But then comes along a book like this and it’s like it was written by someone else. It would certainly be wonderful if we all could find our sexual and emotional soul mates the way Jill and Davis were supposed to be, they were panting all over each other from the get go. Really taking the time to know each other would have made more sense but All they could think or talk about was sex, or having sex where anyone could find them, at work, at a restaurant, in a limo, at a gala etc.. And I’m thinking, what the fuck, if this man really cares for Jill he wouldn’t place her in these precarious positions where anyone could find them. I have to say, If a guy asked me to masterbate in a public place, I would leave him in a heartbeat. This isn’t romance to me, call it what it is, just lust. And yes, the narrator did a poor job with this, and the other books she read in this series.

I wasn’t sure about this story when I first started reading it. It doesn’t start out with the handsome Duke falling in love with the heroine, just two average looking people playing a game of wills. The Duke is actually a low life cowardly asshole who compromised the heroine, and not in the sexy way either. She’s pissed and pregnant and out for justice …our (not yet) hero works for the Duke and has been told to get rid of her. As the story unfolds, l come to like and admire both people and very much enjoyed their journey in finding each other. The game with the hairpins is one of the most touching, beautiful, oh hell, wonderfully written love scenes l’ve ever read. The rest of the series is quite unique also. Do yourself a favor and don’t miss out on this excellent series.

In the third book, we have Ellie and Colin’s journey to their HEA. Not a bad story, the writing is also improved. Unfortunately, there’s also a lot dissembling, neither one ever telling the other the truth. So it can be very frustrating.
Nine and a half hours of Colin’s BS, whining, “self sacrificing” angst was enough to make me pull out my hair. When Ellie hauled off, slapped him, called him a coward, I yelled YES! I think I enjoyed it as much a Ellie. Of course it was during the last two hours or so before the story actually moved forward.

There seems to be lot of complaining about the narrator. She’s no Loralie King, but she has a nice voice, reads with personality and emotions appropriate for the scenes. She’s improved with with every book, I’ve enjoyed listening to her.

It seems like, with new authors, the first book is interesting, grabbing our attention, the second book sometimes doesn’t always live up to it’s promise and people may give up on them at this time, but if you’ve gotten to the third book, keep reading because no matter how flawed the writing my be, the story is intriguing and you may as well see how it ends.

This is my first Madeline Hunter book and I was impressed by what a good storyteller she is. It was a breath of fresh air to have an historical romance set in England, but not set around “The Ton, ballrooms, and all the tiresome restrictions that go with those type of stories. This takes place in a small country town where our heroine, Eva, lives in gentile poverty with her younger sister, Rebecca, on what’s left of their family estate. She runs in our hero, Garrett, while out walking, he’s visiting his inherited property he hasn’t seen in years. I don’t want to say anything else because it’s all clues from here on out. I really liked the characters, the story, and the narrator was perfect. I liked that the this was a sweet, funny, sexy love story and a complicated (stolen paintings) mystery story also. Never a boring minute and I was sorry when it ended.

I loved the first book, lovely characters, excellent story, made perfect by the narration. I was kinda glad someone else was narrating book two because I couldn’t imagine hearing Ms. Wells voice being used for Ives and Padua, Her voice is just so unique, it was Garrett and Eva.

Unfortunately, Ms.Russell’s narration just about ruined book two for me. Luckily, the story was too good to abandon the book, so I kept on listening, it was not easy. That being said, Ms. Russell did a much better job on this book. No, not perfect, but I didn’t spend the whole book cringing every time she did any male voices. Eva and Garreth’s voices were still overly giddy, but not near as bad as the last book.

When we pay so much for audible books, we have a right to expect a certain level of excellence and the last two books were just too good to not get the narrator they deserved, they should be re-recorded.

The Wicked Duke was such a good story, bringing all three brothers together, and another smart, no nonsense woman, this time for Lance. I wasn’t sure how I felt about Lance going into this last book. Although I did feel sympathy for his plight, he seemed to approach the situation so irresponsibly, letting his brothers babysit him all the time. I this book you get to understand who he is and how lonely he has been trying to live with the murder charge hanging over his head for almost a year. When he first sees Maryann it was the first sign of light in his life in a long time, bringing him out of his depression, allowing him to gradually take charge of his problems. Madeline Hunter does an excellent job as usual, writing funny, touching, love stories that ride on the backbone of solid stories with, interesting secondary characters who have their own background stories. I like that just when I think I got it all figured out, here comes another (believable) twist. And it was just that good for all three books, so much fun. So, if you can muddle thru book two’s narration, book three’s narration ain’t (so) bad.
