The way it is written made it seem a little like a novel. This helped to prevent it from sounding like a boring text book like some true crime books tend to lean toward.

The narrator was a little robotic as she read, but the awesome story did more than enough to make up for it.

When I read some of the reviews for this one, there were a few reviews that tried to compare this to Harry Potter by saying that it's an adult version of it. While there is enough similarities to justify saying that, it doesn't mean that if you like one, then you will like the other. This is essentially a fantasy based murder mystery where the main character goes undercover as a student in a university for magic, and he just happens to realize that he has magical talent while he is there. While the story itself was really great, especially for people who like both fantasy and mysteries like me. However I was disappointed with the narrator. He acted out the character fairly well, but the gravely voice and overly intense tone made this one sound like the was reading for a commercial meant for tough guy wannabes.

This one would make a great Hallmark movie. Heart warming, up lifting, and even a little romantic.

I was a little disappointed with the first book. Even though it was well written it was just a set up. This book is the one that really starts the story.

This is a good middle act story that makes me look forward to the next. I like the great twist at the end when realizing who the enemy really is, and the love triangle is heartbreaking in a good way. I felt that Cat's age jump was a really bad cheat, and I'm disappointed that I didn't get to see her grow up.

Even though I like the English accent from narrator's, Derek Perkins accent doesn't quite fit the main character who is from Brooklyn New York, but he did really well otherwise.

The cover says "Hunger Games meets Harry Potter", but I found it to be something else. It was more like the worlds from Alice in Wonderland and Orwell's 1984 going to war with each other. It was really fantastic. Really looking forward to the next one.

I have loved SiFi ever since I remember. The first
movie that I remember watching, albeit barely, was Star Wars when I was only four. I never realized how many types of SiFi are out there. Anyone who likes SiFi will really appreciate these lectures.
