Rod Beton and Travis Walker have known each other almost all their lives; since the third grade, when Rod was the new kid in town and Travis befriended him with Pokémon trading cards and a fruit snack. Apparently Rod’s easy. Since that day, they've had each other's backs. Along the way, Rod fell in love with Travis. He's been hoping for some kind of signal from Travis that he returns Rod's feelings. When Travis announces his surprise engagement over Thanksgiving dinner, Rod decides he's done waiting for the impossible. He packs his belongings and heads for Skagit and a new life.

The narration was hard to get into, but eventually I got comfortable with it. The story started out slow, but picked up in the middle of the book and the momentum continued on from there. I liked both of the lead characters in this story and was rooting for their HEA throughout the book. There was one drunken incident from their youth that I really wish had not been in the book. It made the fact that Travis was completely obtuse to how Rod felt about him seem even less realistic. That was the only flaw I found in the story. It was a slow burn with several unexpected plot points that kept me interested throughout the whole book. This was my first book from this author and I am sure I will read more in the future.

This book should win many, many awards. Best narration. Best story. Best characters. Best extras!!
Yes, the narration by the group was excellent, but I loved the outtakes at the end as well as the Q & A with Sebastian and Andi. There are 2 bonus clips of future books by the author as well. The story was excellent. This is a grown up story where characters are flawed, but own up to the mistakes they make. I loved the honesty in this story. I also loved the characters. Leo is driven and has carried this torch for Lulu for so long. He is a good guy to everyone around him. Lulu was refreshing in that she knew her own worth. I believe the ages of these characters are early thirties. So even though this story had all the feels there was very little angst and I appreciated it all the more because of that. The supporting characters made you feel happy every time they popped in. The over the top boss lady, the budding romance with the co-workers, the best friend bartender, her Mother...I did not want to rush thru their parts. I wanted to appreciate them too and they often brought much comic relief to the scenes. The slow reveal of what happens in the past made it more poignant. Lauren Blakely has written a great romance and the production of this book is to be commended.

Maggie's mind is reeling when she discovers the guy she became tangled up with at Marv's Bait & Tackle isn't a stranger like she thought. The big snag: Sam and Maggie's chemistry is hot enough to melt ice, which makes keeping their secret far more difficult than either expected. Especially when one of them decides they want this arrangement to be more than just a catch and release.

The narration on this book was spot on. I absolutely loved Sam. There was nothing about Sam that was unappealing to me. I love a ginger bearded man. There was about a 10 year age gap between Maggie and Sam. You could definitely feel that in the book. He was trying to lead her to the realization of knowing her own worth without telling her what to do. The only reason that this book got 4 instead of 5 stars is because it took Maggie way too long to know her worth. I am still not sure she knew it at the end of the book.(((Slight spoiler ahead----> Let's just say that her ex-Sterling never got told off by Maggie. He gets it from Sam, but it would have been more fulfilling had Maggie stood up for herself and been the one to punch him especially after what he says right before Sam's fist flies))). Definitely a funny, sexy read that I would recommend, but like Sam and Kate, you will have to have some patience with Maggie to get to the end. Looking forward to the next. I hope it is Lindsey and Dr. Dick--because that could be hilarious. #knowyourworth #SexySam

"Once in a while right in the middle of an ordinary life, love gives us a fairy tale." I saw that quote about fairy tales embroidered on a decorative pillow at a home decorating store. Honestly, it pissed me off. Retail propaganda aimed to promote sales when any single girl in the city could tell them they'd sell more if they'd offer Keep Your Pants On, Asshole instead. But it's fine. I don't have room for decorative pillows anyway. And I don't have time for distractions. Which is why I'm ignoring the distraction staring at me right now.

I had read this book a while back and just listened to it on audiobook. Erin Mallon's narration truly adds to this story. She does great male voices. It is a novella--so not a lot of drama involved and I love that. Lauren has the same characteristics of many of Jana's other female leads. She is smart, funny and outspoken. I think that is one of the reasons Jana's books are always a must buy for me. Max was just perfection. He was also smart, funny and sexy. Any guy who can handle a woman's book club is a keeper. I would recommend this because it is short and an escapist listen. You will be entertained by the descriptive visuals of NYC and the banter.

I'm leaving you this note because I know you're very busy, and I don't want to waste the town sheriff's time. Lord knows I've already wasted enough of it. Thank you for taking me home last night and...everything else. I made you a basket of wild blueberry muffins for your trouble. That seemed like the appropriate baked good for getting naked in your living room. I wasn't myself last night. I didn't mean to kiss you or fondle your backside or ask all those intimate questions. Thank you for pretending to enjoy it.

I got this book immediately after reading Fresh Catch which was amazing. I absolutely loved Jackson--he is a great H--hot, smart, understanding, funny. I just wanted more from Annette. I am not big on angst in stories and I felt her lack of confidence while trying to present a confident facade just led to a lot of unnecessary angst. Not all of her issues came from the incident that occurs in Fresh Catch, but also from a family that makes the Kardashians look sweet. After the introduction of her Mother and Sisters I almost understood her behavior. Simply put, not as good as the first book in the series. Looking forward to Brooke's book though--Brooke is Annette's bestie and she has confidence to spare and added comic relief to this book. Whoever she is paired with better be prepared for anything. : )

This adventure story has everything you could want: the good guy, some bad guys, the girl, sword fighting, revenge, romance, of course a happy ending, and rodents of unusual size. Join Westley the plucky farm boy, Buttercup the beautiful young maiden, Inigo Montoya the driven, embittered swordsman, and many other strange and unusual characters in this swashbuckling tale of good-natured silliness. It is read by Rob Reiner, who directed the motion picture based on this classic tale.

I had been put off from purchasing this because of the number of bad reviews. Then this was recommended by someone in a book group who is also a fan of this book. She was so enthusiastic that I agreed to try it and I am so glad I did!!! Yes, this is an abridged version of the story, but there are new parts that you will be blessed with if you have only seen the movie. If you only see the movie you will never know about the 5 levels of the Zoo of Death or the final words that Inigo actually says to Count Rugen in their confrontation. Which I have to say I played back several times so I could write it down. It was very good. What is said in the cinematic version was fitting, but I think this was more eloquent. I thought Rob Reiner did a good job of narrating this from sheer enthusiasm alone. Anyone who has listened to As You Wish knows what lengths he went to in order to make the movie and clearly he is a huge fan of the book and that translated in the narration. I own the book and if I want to get more detail I will read it--but for a quick trip this is a great way to pass the time. I highly recommend it.

It all started with a mysterious blue note sewn into a wedding dress. Something blue. I’d gone to sell my own unworn bridal gown at a vintage clothing store. That’s when I found another bride’s “something old.” Stitched into the lining of a fabulously feathered design was the loveliest message I’d ever read: Thank you for making all of my dreams come true. The name embossed on the blue stationery: Reed Eastwood, obviously the most romantic man who ever lived. I also discovered he’s the most gorgeous. If only my true-love fantasies had stopped there.

This story went from the opposite of a meet cute to the truest of true love and it was not rushed in any way. The writer gave this story and the characters in it time to develop and we got to go along on their journey for 8 hours. The narration is excellent. I laughed, I cried a little and I commiserated with both the H/h in this story on the choices they were making. This book is definitely creditworthy and as of this writing it is in the Romance Package. Don't hesitate, just read it. You won't be sorry.

The push and pull of their relationship is only enhanced by the quirkiness of Anna and the resolve of Luca. I love Penny's writing. I love Fiona's first foray into narration.
