After surviving a horrific chemical attack that turned him into a metahuman, Captain Jamie Callahan got a second lease on life. For three years he’s been working for the Metahuman Defense Force and leading Alpha Team - all against the wishes of his family. The job requires his full dedication, so it’s no surprise Jamie doesn’t have time for a relationship. An enticing one-night stand with a gorgeous stranger shows Jamie what he’s been missing. When a mission to take down a terrorist cell brings that same stranger - Kyle Brannigan - back into his world, Jamie’s life gets complicated.

NYPD Detective Alec MacAidan has always been good with weird. After all, his life has been a string of the unexplainable. But when an injured man gives him cryptic clues, then turns to dust in front of him, Alec's view on weird is changed forever. Cronin, a vampire Elder, has spent the last 1,000 years waiting for Alec. He'd been told his fated one would be a man wielding a shield, but he didn't expect him to be human, and he certainly didn't expect that shield to be a police badge.

Where does Cronin's Key rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

somewhere up near the top of my list, it's my favourite book that I've listened to Joel Leslie narrate

Who was your favorite character and why?

hard to choose between Alec and Cronin
Alec is the tough, no nonsense cop and Cronin is the vampire that has been waiting a lifetime for him

Which scene was your favorite?

when they jump back to the police dept to "acquire" weapons and bulletproof vests
....and the final sex scene

If you could take any character from Cronin's Key out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Alec....tall, dark and handsome, and can still eat human food ;)

Any additional comments?

loved all the character voices as they fit well with the character descriptions

So, when a university calls with a giant scholarship for him, his parents do the only thing you can with a scrawny werewolf and send him away to get a higher education. Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Probably not. For a "sports shifter romance" it didn't have much that could be considered "shifter-y", I'd probably call HvZ a game rather than sports and it had very minimal romance.

Would you recommend HvZ: All Out (M/M Gay Sports Shifter Romance Book 1) to your friends? Why or why not?

Why have I been asked the same question?? O.o

What does Gus Klondike bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Gus narrated the book very well. He whined and growled his way through the story as it was portrayed, which unfortunately highlighted everything that was wrong with the story.

Could you see HvZ: All Out (M/M Gay Sports Shifter Romance Book 1) being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

I could see it happening but wouldn't watch it myself. I have no idea who the stars would be as I'm not aware who the latest teen sensations are (wow...I gave my age away on THAT one!)

What did you love best about Hidden Identity?

An interesting storyline about an Irish/American PI still shattered by the death of his father 15 years earlier and the choices he makes as a result of that death.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The plot moved along at a good pace and wove multiple and seemingly disparate scenes together very well.

What about Joel Leslie’s performance did you like?

Joel had a real knack for supplying a range of voices that complemented the characters and was consistent throughout.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Would have been good but I had no problem keeping track of the story over several days of listening.

I had not previously read this book (I prefer to read then listen) and was pleasantly surprised at the ease with which I was able to follow the story.
Joel has an amazing range of voices. The only thing that detracted from the performance was the sound quality, I almost had my volume on max and still had trouble hearing some of the audio.

No one can hold a candle to Blaze. He's the only pyromancer in Havoc's Crew, and everyone knows Havoc's Crew is the best magic outfit in Lyon City. When an accident leaves Blaze disfigured, all he wants to do is disappear. When a wave of zombies threaten the city it's up to him and bear-shifter Levi Black to clean the mess up, but the shifter seems more interested in him than the mission.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I enjoyed the narration but the story itself left something to be desired.
Peter has an easy to listen voice.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Blaze constantly called Levi "Bear", his animal type not his name...doesn't sound like he can be bothered to learn or use his lover's name.
Dialogue between the 2 MC's seemed to consist of "f@ck you" or variations of "do what I say"
A little more character and world building wold be nice

What does Peter Verbena bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

In all honesty I possibly would have DNF'ed the book if I had read it. It just didn't hit my buttons even though it's a genre I love. Peter's voice is definitely one I could listen to again.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Not without a lot of editing
