Learned a lot about Protestant activities during Hitler's rise and fall, learned more about Hitler and how they gradually tighten their grip over Germany and how they did it, and of course learned a lot about Bonhoeffer. Great reading of the book, very well written.

There are many readings available for this book, and I'm overjoyed I picked this one. Each character and each line was presented so well, calling it a reading doesn't do it justice.

With Ayan's background growing up as a Muslim in Muslim cultures, and her determination to be an independent thinker, her insights and opinions are unique, valuable and worth considering. Read Infidel before this book, as I did, to get a picture of Islam from the inside.

Wish I could give this book 10 stars, reader included.

I'll start with the reader: can't imagine it being any better. Eloquence, clarity, and meaningful additional inflections. And I don't know if this was intentional or just her natural voice, but she sounded very similar to the author, which allowed me to imagine KS was reading it. Very cool. She also added some inflections to sound similar to others who were quoted in the book, and those too were close enough to allow me to imagine them saying it.

Now to the book. Again, wow. I had followed these scandals when they happened, but nowhere close to this depth. The problem is so much worse than I thought, and Kim explains them all concisely, clearly, eloquently, interestingly. It's a long book but riviting. Never wanted to put it down.

And it's important. Every American needs to know what happened, and likely to continue happening, and getting worse, unless we fight back and change things. Kim makes recommendations in the last chapter for what we should do.

Important for everyone to read. Just feeling your way through all of the gender activism, slogans, laws, etc won't help you make sense of it. This book will.

Seriously. This should be required reading for every high school student, or at least college. It's baseline information one *needs* to know to have informed opinions on social, economic issues. On top of that it's eloquently written and read.

Any additional comments?

Very important book to read. While it is a very long book, it's worth it. To learn about who Mao Tse Tung was (100% monster), how he used Communism as a vehicle to pursue his selfish goals, what his goals were (world domination), the horrific things he did to the Chinese people, how Mao fooled western leaders including the USA, Mao's interactions with Stalin, Vietnam (during the Vietnam war), Japan, etc.

Would you listen to You Shall Be as Gods again? Why?

I actually did listen to the first few chapters a second time, before proceeding with the rest, to focus more on the details of what was said.

What was one of the most memorable moments of You Shall Be as Gods?

That the Bible/God are about eliminating idol worship.

What does Allan Robertson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The presentation was impressive. It wasn't just reading, it included styles that led me to think this is how Fromm himself might have expressed his ideas.

Any additional comments?

Agree or disagree with his opinions about the Bible and religion, it's thought-provoking and scholarly in its insights.
