I am really enjoying the star wars audio book revival but this story killed it for me. One of the best things about star wars is the antiseptic approach to violence and politics that was evident in the first three films New Hope, Empire and Return. All of this was captured In the Zahn Series books but now it seems like everyone wants to put some kind of personal social spin on things. Look, I don't need sexual innuendo or suggestive situations or anything more than a simple reference. I definitely don't need the references to hetero sexual, homo sexual or any thing other than a simple good kiss being inserted into the story line. It ADDED NOTHING OF VALUE to the story and REMOVED VALUE from it.

Oh, Marc Thompson is an excellent reader and has a great voice.

The destruction of the Death Star by the Rebel Alliance was a decisive blow against the Empire, but Palpatine and his monstrous enforcer, Darth Vader, are no less of a threat. The brutal extermination of Alderaan not only demonstrated the magnitude of their murderous power, but served as a chilling testament to their resolve to crush the Rebel uprising. Standing against them, Skywalker, Solo, and the Princess remain uncertain opponents. Luke is gifted and brave, but unschooled in the power he possesses.

Alright, I liked most if nearly all of the short stories contained within this. I had high hopes for some of the stories but was left feeling unfulfilled which kept me from giving it a perfect 5X5X5, of course this is subjective and I do not want to spoil the stories I will say that there is nearly something for everyone in this and it is a good companion for trips in the vehicle that last about 1 hour or so. It is a great value for the money if you are a Star Wars fan, this will not disappoint.

there are two versions of this book. this version is excellent, the performance is stellar, while the story line is alright and may no longer be considered as cannon, the performance is extremely well done. the parts of the story that are not canon are well done but different from the Disney world. I wish that the Zahn series would have been turned into a screen play but I guess it is no longer my star wars of 1977.

If I had not listened to Marc Thompson's version of book 1 and found it to be EXCELLENT. I would have never known what I would be missing. The Narration by Anthony Heald is good but does not come close to the quasi-dramatization of the Thompson's work and who would have thought there would be more than one narration. I would love to return this copy, but I have already purchased the Thompson copy and while I finished this one I can already see that the Thompson copy adds so much more. In the Heald copy the music is out of place and dominates the storyline from time to time without adding any real benefit to the story line.
