In a realm where one’s magical power determines one’s worth, Lady Everleigh’s lack of obvious ability relegates her to the shadows of the royal court of Bellona, a kingdom steeped in gladiator tradition. Seventeenth in line for the throne, Evie is nothing more than a ceremonial fixture, overlooked and mostly forgotten. But dark forces are at work inside the palace. When her cousin Vasilia, the crown princess, assassinates her mother the queen and takes the throne by force, Evie is also attacked, along with the rest of the royal family.

I loved the book when it was published, the movie when it came out and the versions of Audible books that have been released. My generation actually went through the troubles with Russia and Communism. As they have shown in England, they can be nasty. The 50’s, 60’s and 70’s were hard for the Russian people. We, the American people were shown how you couldn’t trust Russia and their leaders. Too bad some of our leaders didn’t retain any history, or maybe have a learning disability they never addressed. Great Book. Great Recording. To be enjoyed over and over.

In Everything Trump Touches Dies, political campaign strategist and commentator Rick Wilson brings his darkly funny humor and biting analysis to the absurdity of American politics in the age of Trump. Wilson mercilessly exposes the damage Trump has done to the country, to the Republican Party he served for decades, and to the conservative movement that has abandoned its principles for the worst president in American history. No left-winger, Wilson is a lifelong conservative who delivers his withering critique of Trump from the right.

Lucas Fournier is only serious about one thing: hockey. The league's fun-loving charmer, Luc is always up for a good prank or a great lay, and he has no intention of settling down. But being traded to the Carolina Cold Fury - and to play alongside his big brother, Max - is no joke. With another title in sight, the last thing Luc wants is to let his new teammates down. To succeed, Luc will need to keep his head in the game and the most...er, demanding member of his anatomy in check. But when temptation hits, Luc hits back harder.

Meet the hottest detective duo in New Orleans - she's Queen Latifah. He's Danny DeVito. Or they would be if this were a movie - in print, they're Talba Wallis and Eddie Valentino. Talba's got the beauty, the brains, the computer savvy, the poetic soul, the youth, the right demographic, and the sass. Eddie's got the detective agency. Also a short fuse and yes, wisdom. Not only do they make it work, they've got chemistry.

However, this book is about his twin, Nava: a smart-ass, self-cultivated hot mess who is thrilled her brother is stuck with all the chosen one crap. When Nava half-drunkenly interrupts Ari's induction ceremony, she expects to be chastised. What she doesn't expect is to take her brother's place among the until-now all-male demon hunters. Even worse? Her infuriating leader is former rock star Rohan Mitra.

Another addition to J.D. Robb's 'in Death" series that I wait for each year to come out in Audible form. Unfortunately this year I saved it until the horrible hurricane IRMA needed to be watched and paid attention to so there were so many stops and starts it didn't get the dedicated time it needed. I will, in the near future listen to it again, but the first time around, even interrupted it was riveting. You will be entertained and will listen more than once.
