Stalker Kai Gracen knew his human upbringing would eventually clash with his elfin heritage, but not so soon. Between Ryder, a pain-in-his-neck sidhe lord coaxing him to join San Diego’s Southern Rise Court, and picking up bounties for SoCalGov, he has more than enough to deal with. With his loyalties divided between the humans who raised him and the sidhe lord he’s befriended and sworn to protect, Kai finds himself standing at a crossroads.

a lot of my issues with the first book continued into the second. so many word. repeated and repeated. unhealthy relationships romanticized, but what really annoyed me was the change to characters/already established plots. retconning. idk maybe the second time I listen it will be different but idk. the end was sort of guessed. I generally like klunes work but this series is a miss with me. narrator did a good job.

I've read/listened to a handful of klunes books and am noticing a trend of unhealthy relationships romanticized and characters with little to no self awareness. cruelty for the sake of cruelty, and a lack of common sense. that's not to say that wolfsong didn't have it's good moments. i enjoyed the magic aspect and hope the next goes more in depth. but as a whole it felt like a twelve hour book made to be nineteen. I want to say I get what he was doing but mostly the book read as long slow and generic. the narrator did a great job I plan to look up more of his work.

Some jobs are just too good to be true. Captain Matt Spears learns this the hard way after a mysterious employer hires his ship to hunt down an ancient alien artifact but insists on providing his own pilot. Ryce Faine is handsome and smart, but Matt has rarely met anyone more obnoxious. With tensions running high, it isn’t until they are attacked by the hostile Alraki that Matt grudgingly begins to respect Ryce’s superior skills, respect that transforms into a tentative attraction.

this is one of those books I regret purchasing. several times I found my self checking to see how much time was left. the characters weren't all that developed, and the storyline seemed rushed... it started out alright but the longer I listened the less I cared. I encourage adler to keep writing. there is potential just needs more work.

it's slow, delightfully slow. the romance and cruelties inflicted left you wanting to hear more. the take on memories were originally. my only complaint was that I wasn't entirely sure what period the book took place in, obviously it was an alternative history but still. vastly enjoyable.

Gael Peterson has spent years hiding behind the enhanced abilities he wears like a mask, even though he is an important, confident member of the FBI’s exclusive H.E.R.O. team. In a world where those with special abilities like Gael’s are regarded as freaks and monsters, it won’t be easy for him to rely on his regular new partner to have his back, especially when the abilities of a vulnerable, nonspeaking, enhanced child make that child a murder suspect.

so I'm really disappointed in this one. the weird out of nowhere turn of face on characters, the changes to the world's lore, the characters have always been sort of unhealthy (a bit rapie) but, I don't know. this one was just unrealistic, more so than usual. I have been really enjoying the series (some what)until now, but I don't think I'll be continuing. idk I'll keep my eye out for the next, but yeah. I'm not sure if I want to continue.

ok so very mixed on this one. the book is absurd from the very beginning. I give the narrator props for not laughing while recording. the story is... complicated and not in the good way, the descriptions of sex were cringey in the best way. I was laughing from the start and this isn't a comedy. I'm getting the next two just to see if the absurdity continues. I encourage a listen, but don't expect much world building or character building.
