Over 100 years ago, a group of witches made their way from New England to Whitewater, Wisconsin, known as Second Salem. Others also made their way to the city and, through their ignorance, unleashed an evil entity. Three sisters, the Willoughby Witches, created an incantation strong enough to ensnare the demon. Lord Henry McDermott, college professor, anthropologist, and archaeologist, has yearned to learn more about the legend of the Willoughby Witches. Taking the summer off to research the folklore, Henry discovers that there is more waiting for him in Whitewater than just a story.

Interesting storyline. Slow start but that's to be expected but the action catches up. Looks like it's more on romance at the moment. The magic is there but so far there's not much impact yet. I will continue with the next book when it comes out and decide then.

A interesting storyline. The main character, Sage was brought up as a human and she was totally in the dark to her past history. During an incident at a party she was "rescued" and taken to a safe place. Faelan, the male protagonist who became her bodyguard to teach and protect her from her many enemies. There were also a number of secondary characters that added to the enjoyment of the story. The two narrators, Will Damron and Kate Rudd performed excellently though I would have preferred if the voices of the different characters were maintained throughout the story be performed by the same narrator. This way it would make more sense for the voices for the individuals to sound the same. Does that make sense? Other than that it was very interesting and I was totally engrossed with the story which kept awake through the night to finish the book. Rachel A Marks is a talented writer and I am looking forward for the next book to be published.

Clio might be a nymph living in exile among humans. And she might possess the rare ability to mimic any magic she sees. And she might have just seriously ticked off the most powerful family of spell weavers in the Underworld. But she is not in love with an incubus. Lyre is the rebellious black sheep of the Weaver family, and he's the only reason she survived her recent Underworld "vacation". He's also the sexiest thing she's ever seen. Together, they have to track down a catastrophically dangerous magic - a magic he created, she sort of stole, and they both lost.

Enjoyable. Clio and Lyre are in caught in desperate situations. Clio is rather naive and is therefore sometimes impulsive. The tensioned moments are very well projected/written by Annette Marie. I find myself so engrossed in the story that I am kept awake through the night finishing the story. Very talented writer. The narration/performance by both narrators are good though as I said in my previous review for book 1 the voices for the characters differ being narrated by different narrators spoils it.

As a nymph living in exile among humans, Clio has picked up all sorts of unique survival skills. But pilfering magic from the Underworld's deadliest spell weavers? Not so much. Unfortunately, that's exactly what she has to do to earn a ticket back home. Conning her way into the Underworld may have gone pretty well, but now she's got a new problem. His name is Lyre, and he's a sinfully alluring incubus, a skilled spell weaver, and the only thing standing between her and stealing some damn magic.

Starting was a bit slow but it picked up in momentum. The storyline and plot are good. Lyre's story is very interesting. Clio sounds very young in character but she shows more maturity in the later part of the story. Very good. The only spoiler I feel is I would have preferred the narrator be one instead of two. Both are good but the voices of the individual characters, like for males and females differ when read by the narrators . Other than that the series is good.

The intrigues, battles among the different species and humans is on going and the romance is so beautiful. Piper's and Ash's love for each other is sooo awesome. Lyre is a so supportive towards Piper that it is admirable. The storyline and plot is excellent and the story flows smoothly throughout. I am so glad I took a chance with this series. Some of the negative reviews about the narration are totally baseless. This series is a keeper!
