In Patient Zero, Richard A. McKay presents a carefully documented and sensitively written account of the life of Gaetan Dugas, a gay man whose skin cancer diagnosis in 1980 took on very different meanings as the HIV/AIDS epidemic developed - and who received widespread posthumous infamy when he was incorrectly identified as patient zero of the North American outbreak.

Let me first say, I never bought that Gaetan Dugas was "Patient Zero". So I'm glad that the truth about this myth has been corrected.

That being said, I felt the book was on a constant wash, rinse , repeat. The author clearly is no fan of Randy Shilts. I get it, Mr. McKay, you dislike Mr. Shilts.

Now I did learn a lot more about Randy Shilts' life that I had no idea about. I will admit makes me see him in a different light. It's a mixture of pity and disappointment.

On a side note: The narrator is fantastic. I'll have to look for more books with his narration.

My doctor recently told me my liver was fatty due to my sugar/carb filled diet. She recommended me to read Dr. Hyman's book because as she put it, " He will explain it better than I can". The wellness plan she has me on is exactly what Dr. Hyman recommends. I've been on the plan for 2 weeks now and I already feel so much better.

Now available for the first time in unabridged audio, the gripping story of this famous and haunting crime is brought to life by acclaimed narrator Scott Brick.

I read this back in high school in the 80's but I don't remember much of it. So I decided to listen to it. I'm glad I did. There was a lot more information than I remember. Charles Manson is pure evil and his cult of personally ways destroyed so many lives. I will say Susan Adkins may have been the scariest family member after Manson. It also highlights that Manson may have learned a lot if his techniques from Scientology.

1936 was a great year for the movie industry - the financial setbacks of the Great Depression were subsiding, so theater attendance was up. Americans everywhere were watching the stars, and few stars shined as brightly as one of America's most enduring screen favorites, Mary Astor. But Astor's personal story wasn't a happy one. Born poor and widowed at 24, Mary Astor had spent years looking for stability when she met and wed Dr. Franklyn Thorpe.
