I enjoyed listening to this, but I had some issues with it. The chapters did not flow well toward the end and on occasion, an entire sentence would be cut off and a new chapter would begin. Strange, as I have never had this issue with Audible before. Not absolutely terrible, but slightly annoying.

Where does Catch-22 rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I started this book once, returned it, and then decided to buy it again because I had gotten so far my first try and just wanted to finish it. Honestly, I enjoyed it more upon finishing it than I did while I was in the actual process of reading it. At 2 minutes shy of 20 hours, this is a pretty hefty audiobook. While I don't mind books being that long, this book was incredibly repetitive to the point of being predictable. Catch-22 was funny to me at first, but the jokes ended up becoming a tad redundant and eye-roll inducing. That being said, I am glad that I got through it. The plot is quite chaotic and the pieces start fitting together toward the end of the novel. What made this read worthwhile to me was the wide range of realistic characters that Heller created. It was a bit hard to keep track of all of them, but each character was truly unique, distinctive, and interesting. The narration was also fantastic and helped me from losing interest in the book. Jay O. Sanders gives the main characters different and convincing voices which allows you to become immersed in the story.

tl;dr: While chaotic and long, Catch-22 is full of captivating characters and is narrated spectacularly.

Traumatized by the bombing of Dresden at the time he had been imprisoned, Pilgrim drifts through all events and history, sometimes deeply implicated, sometimes a witness. He is surrounded by Vonnegut's usual large cast of continuing characters (notably here the hack science fiction writer Kilgore Trout and the alien Tralfamadorians, who oversee his life and remind him constantly that there is no causation, no order, no motive to existence).

This book has definitely made it to my list of favorites. Vonnegut does an excellent job of telling the strange and interesting story of Billy Pilgrim. Usually war novels are exceptionally boring for me, but Slaughterhouse-Five has a healthy dose of Sci-Fi that actually keeps it interesting. The plot jumped all over the place, but it was done in a captivating and fascinating way. My only complaint is that James Franco read this too slowly for my taste, but it was fine since Audible has the option to increase the speed.

tl;dr: Vonnegut did an excellent job blending Sci-Fi and war themes. Brilliant!
