Self-proclaimed “World's Greatest Thief", Whitney Fierstown, has yet to find a trinket or treasure he couldn't steal. He nearly pulls off the heist of the century by snatching the Glass Crown off the dying king's head until rotten luck throws him into the path of Torsten Unger, a steadfast knight determined to save his vulnerable kingdom. Torsten offers this ultimatum: rot and die in a dank cell or join him on a dangerous expedition and put his skills to good use.

This was a great start to a new fantasy series. The narration was perfect, the story kept moving and was lots of fun. I’m going to get book 2 with my next credit.

Ishmael, a sailor, recounts the ill-fated voyage of a whaling ship led by the fanatical Captain Ahab, who is in search of the white whale that crippled him. Herman Melville uses stylized language, symbolism, and metaphor to explore a variety of complex themes. Moby Dick is considered one of the greatest novels in the English language.

I don't normally recommend abridged audiobooks, but this is the exception. I had this book on cassette back in the 90s, and I must have listened to it a hundred times. I was thrilled when I realized that the George Kennedy recording was available on Audible. The downside is that you don't get the entire book, but the upside is that the heart of the story is still intact (they cut the 100 page section on the history of whaling) and the narration is absolutely wonderful. George Kennedy does an amazing performance, and you will never feel bored or like your money was wasted. And this short version would be a great way to introduce Moby Dick to a younger audience. If you want 3 hours of audio enjoyment, then this is the book for you.

A troubled lawman, a mysterious woman, a bit of magic and you have the recipe for something really great here. This book has the perfect combination of western action, drama, a bit of sexual tension, and bleak hopefulness that will keep you on the edge of your earbuds for 10.5 hours. There are no slow, boring parts. Highly recommended.

Sam Rockwell came home from the Second World War to work as a fledgling private investigator specializing in helping "Returns": recently deceased ghosts who've come back with unfinished business. Short on experience and long on the imitated swagger of the detectives found in his dog-eared collection of pulp fiction P.I. mysteries, the quick-witted Sam waits for his big break - and his chance to win the heart of Amelia, his Girl Friday. But when his no-nonsense father is murdered and becomes a Return himself, everything changes.

If you liked the first one, you'll love this. If you didn't like the first one, go back and listen to it again. I can't wait until this is on Netflix.

Listen: this audiobook is terrible, but terrible in a good way. It's full of slurs, stereotypes, pubic hair, mustaches, f-bombs, Trans-Ams, CB lingo, monkeys, and sex, just like it really was in the 70s. If you are offended by children drinking beer while a chimp pees on people from a hot air balloon, then this is the wrong book for you. But if you understand parody and can control your emotions for 5 hours and 53 minutes, you should get this and prepare to LOL.

I've listened to several of Gosney's books and this one was my favorite. It's got a coming-of-age/Stand By Me storyline mixed with a post-apocalyptic disaster, all of which adds up to something special. I finished up the story yesterday and immediately thought "I hope he writes another one." Give this a chance, you won't regret it.
