A rather short but intense story. It was unclear who was trying to murder Shane until the very end. Tessa being a bodyguard was the logical choice to keep him safe.

I didn't like Tess very much. She kept making excuses to herself. She seemed so brave but was a total wimp when it came to facing her own feelings and where they could lead with Shane.

I have been fortunate to own this story and have read it multiple times. That is also a reflection of my feelings toward the story and series. I love the characters and the families interactions. Joseph is a wiley gentleman with his own desires for grandchildren not withstanding the happiness and well beinging of his sons. Even if they don't agree with his view of what is best for themselves.

An excellent story. Unlike a lot of romance stories I consume, this story has some depth and left me thinking. It was always you is about a married couple who coming into contact after many years apart. Each has been through hard times together and separately. Through most of the story they try to come to a resolution with their son and a divorce?

Lili Dubuque did a fabulous job narrating. She portrayed each character with their varied emotions and atmosphere
Throughout, it was easy to get lost in the story.

Kat Stevens is a slightly insecure, mostly bored technical writer who likes her cat a lot more than her boss. She hasn't laid eyes on her great aunt Abigail since she was eight, so she's stumped when she inherits Abigail's house in the small hamlet of Alpine Grove. Kat's uncomplicated life gets decidedly less so when she discovers the inheritance comes with some hairy conditions: four dogs and five cats that her aunt wanted her to love as her own. Of course, the house smells like a barn - with a touch of antique skunk - and, naturally, has serious roof issues.

Overall a good story. It got a little long at times with all the details. At first it felt a bit like chic lit or maybe women's fiction, the animals and property taking the highlight. About half way through it turned more toward a romance. The romance moved quickly and after all the details the end just happened with a epilogue. It was like we were building up to the climax but ended before it was complete then told what happened. Disappointing.

The characterization was on target tho some of the real life details were just not there. In a small town like that the aunts friend should have known Cindy and Joel. The allergic reactions Joel did or didn't have.

Pamela Dougherty did a excellent job with the narration.

The mystery of what happened back in 1913 with Bianca & her love Christian has been solved. The emeralds have been found. The man who would have taken the emeralds for himself is dead. The hotel porotion of the house is completed and filled with guests.

Amanda is finding it difficult to be the manager and the accountant for The Retreat. Nathaniel Fury has become business partners with Holt taking tourists out whale watching. Bookkeeping is definitely not their strong suit. Megan, Sloan's sister, has been offered and accepted the jobs. She and Kevin move into the towers and take up residence as part of the family and the adventure begins.

It is a fitting end to the Calhoun Family series.

This short novella is a entertaining if not reflective story about family and expectations. With a cast of rather quirky characters, a blizzard and Christmas around the corner, this senior living community has lots of excitement going on.

Dr. Brady and Camille were in a relationship in college. After graduation they went their separate ways. This surprise meeting brings forth questions all around.

I liked how Camille's grandfather, through subterfuge got the attention he needed to draw attention to problems in the family. I appreciated how individually several people brought out and dealt head on with their issues even when it was difficult. Family is complicated always but this example is also entertaining.

Stephanie Dillard did a terrific job narrating this story. She definitely added to the overall telling.

I am torn when reflecting on Valley Fever. Tobias, who is such a ass at the beginning of the story becomes a likable guy once he let's go of his past and faces his responsibility and feelings. Lina on the other hand, although the 'nice' girl I have no time for. She has no problem standing up for herself while at the same time telling herself she has no control. She is so busy telling herself crap she refuses to see beyond it. While Tobias grows up and turns to a outward focus Lina never does. I really wanted to slap her upside the head and tell her to stop dreaming and being so self centered.

It is a good story overall and I recommend it to ages 14+.

Logan McAllister did a fabulous job portraying the characters and narration. I hope to hear him again soon.
