The Scarlet Virgins is a memoir of one woman's journey through the Christian Purity Movement. It wrestles with the experiences and temptations of her and her peers, including the temptation of apostasy, addiction, alcoholism, anorexia, depression, self-harm, and suicide. The author seeks to restore the truth to broken souls: It is Christ who makes us pure.

This book is an excellent look at a type of religious extremism from the inside. The author sees that there are inconsistencies in what she had been taught and takes a step back to examine, question and rebuild her faith. Listen to how she went from blind faith to an educated, thoughtful choice of faith. I can't say I completely agree with some of her conclusions or assertions but I can respect that she used her intelligence to her right path.

"More knowledge is always better than less"

I couldn't agree more. This intellectual piece is brilliantly written and thought provoking. I will be listening to it many times in order to grasp every thought and nuance of the paper. It is not only well written but well read and is a pleasure to ingest. Many of the topics and ideas covered can be applied to life, no matter who you are. I highly recommend taking some time to listen and ruminate on this delightfully intelligent work.

My name is Charlotte, and I have a special gift: I talk to the dead. Make no mistake, I can't summon them. I'm able only to see and speak to the spirits that linger when they're unable to cross over. They're somehow weighted to the world with unfinished affairs. And for the last six years, I've relentlessly used my gift to help their lost souls. But it's come at a price. My life is dark. Feeling despondent, I've begun to give up. And in helping the dead, I've realized I haven't allowed myself to live.

I'm so happy I have this one a chance. It is an amazing story about 2 romances for one girl without being a true love triangle. I laughed and cried and ended on a smile. Give this book a go, I really don't think you'll regret it.

She’s a wildcat in bed, and she’s driving me insane! Ever since that first night I can’t get enough of Rahyne Andrews. Her kisses, her body, her moans, drive me crazy. I can’t seem to say no to her. My only problem is that she doesn’t seem to be interested in more than my body. And I’m not about to have my control taken away from me. She either bends to my will, or I’m walking.

Scarlett Chase is every man’s wet dream. As soon as I laid eyes on her, I knew she’d be mine. That is, until I found out she was untouchable. One kiss, one forbidden touch, will have me out on the streets and stripped of who I am. Yet I want her. I need her. And I’m done following all these damn rules. Wolf Stone is my obsession. Ever since he pulled over on that empty road, I’ve been tormented by the man. His possessive words and heated looks have me tightly wound. One touch, and he lights me on fire. But I want more. I not only want him in my bed, I want to keep him for myself.

Kim Cresswell created a brilliant world filled with murder, justice, paranormal abilities and life's grey areas. I truly felt for The main characters as they struggled with right verses wrong and all of the middle pieces that are the realm of everyday hard decisions. I nearly cried for the main character as she struggled with her grief as she tries to catch two killers. I truly want more.

My only criticism of this audiobook is the male choices the narrator makes. They are all nearly the same and they all sound like they have been smoking for 60 years. Perhaps she can work on improving it or just not make voices for the men.

Detective Levin is on a case to find the cause of an outbreak of mass murders in his hometown, Norcastle. His hometown was the first to fall. Entire cities have fallen one by one to The Decay. It's rumored that everyone that goes to Norcastle becomes insane. Some believe “The Decay” is a virus spread by the government. Other’s speculate it was caused by Ravel’s cult members. Some even believe it’s a holy war that has broken out between the Cyrus and Ravel cults. The only thing for certain is no one is safe.

This book is a future where the governments and countries are no longer those we know and gods, demons and their minions ravage entire towns. We get to ride along as Lt. Levin and Starr fight for mankind in a crazy adventure.

The narration is excellent and his voice is easy to listen to and had plenty of inflection to keep you interested.

My only criticism is that the time line is a bit difficult to follow because the author rarely offers any sense of time passage. Think left me unsure about if the book takes place over weeks, months or years. The characters could use a but more development as well because they feel a bit skin deep but are likeable enough. If you can overlook the vague timeline, slightly shallow characters and heavy use of "said"/"says" then this will be a very enjoyable read/listen. I know I enjoyed it.

Styled like a classic drive-in double feature, this pair of tales strives to evoke that beloved era and its associated feelgood emotions while still thrilling and frightening those willing to take the rides. Both stories are family-style entertainment with little foul language and virtually no "adult situations" - in other words, sheer all-ages fun.

Here's a new author for you to enjoy. Although the first story ended a bit too abruptly for my taste it's only because I wanted more of the story. The second half of the double feature was so we'll done that I could picture the creatures and settings perfectly. With a time so much like Lovecraft and imagery for for the screen you can't miss with this quick and satisfying listen/read.

If you're lucky, you'll fall in love-truly, madly, and deeply in love. Maddy and Reid had that kind of love-the all-encompassing, Earth-shattering, once-in-a-lifetime kind of love. Then life happened. Old wounds that were thought to be long healed and scabbed over are ripped opened, and they are forced to face the possibility that maybe they are not strong enough to fight their demons and embrace the light.

Between the detailed descriptions, use of local language differences and the will lead accents by the narrator this book sucked me into the bayou and made me get to know it better. Top that off with a couple of murders, family drama and romance and you have a book that Grand tour attention and holds on tight.
