John Milton is a former assassin for the British government. He is a ronin, trying to atone for his past sins by offering his services to those people who have no one else to whom they can turn. Milton is keeping a low profile in London when he meets Eddie Fabian. Fabian confesses that he is considering suicide and that the reason for his depression was the abuse that he suffered as a child. Milton offers to help, but, before he can, Eddie is found dead in circumstances that Milton considers suspicious.

Milton meets his match in this novel full of plot twists and suspense. His own arrogance is almost his downfall. He's still trying to atone for his past sins and gets involved with a beautiful woman and the corrupt men who intend to destroy everything she's worked for. His past comes back to haunt him in the form of a fellow assassin. I absolutely love the narration of David Thorpe! His voice inflection and pronounciation of words is more than enough to keep my attention. Looking forward to the next installment.

A serial killer stalks women in rural Ohio. He is deranged but brilliant, known only by the grotesque nickname the media has given him - The Doll Parts Killer. The name is apt. He dismembers his victims and leaves them in garbage bags in public places. A residential neighborhood. Next to a roller rink. Behind a Burger King. The investigation is a disaster. No physical evidence. Unreliable witnesses. To make matters worse, the FBI has lost contact with the star profiler working the case.

Omer's best yet in this series. Lead character Hannah is intense, focused and smart. But has moments of human failings as we all do. It just makes her more interesting. Her interactions with partners and FBI agents is a little over the top and actually made me have moments of disliking her character! She at times was too stubborn and rigid about solving the case. The kidnapping and search for Abigail was very suspenseful and edge of your seat. Really enjoyed the book!

I'm enjoying this series of novels. John Milton is an intriguing character with plenty of depth and personal demons. My only issue with this particular installment is it's close resemblance to the Rambo novel. Followed a lot of the same story line. Milton brought his own personality to the theme and the supporting characters are strong. Looking forward to the next book.

Add that to the main character Eden being the dumbest Fbi agent in print and I had to force myself over DAYS to finish this book. It's one of those hopeful thoughts that it had to get better....but it didn't. Don't waste your time!!!
