With the Audible romance package I was looking forward to listening to new authors and exploring new genres. One of the first I’ve tried is this book, and I’m going to go looking for more books from this author. Not only was it very well written, but the attention to detail, as well as the creativity, truly kept me entertained.

For those who love lots of steamy sex, this book may not be for you. But if you enjoy a simply good love story/mystery/steam punk, then I would highly recommend this to you. In fact, whether or not you’re interested in steam punk I think you would like this story. Personally, I did enjoy the new take on history, with mechanicals, airships and an interesting take on robotics included.

While I am super sensitive when it comes to scary or horror/ bloody scenes in books, I did not find the scenes in this book to be over the top for my taste.

Most likely I will listen to this book again in the future.

Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Rarely do I write a truly negative review. With the world of Nocturne Falls expanding, I was excited to read the new author stories. This story was problematic from the beginning. I LIKE my fantasy to have a somewhat realistic, or at least believable, timeline. This story failed from the start.

Because of the improbable series of events, I just couldn't get into this story. And I truly WANTED to like it. I will say I liked the new characters (except for the two main characters) that were included in the Nocturne Falls universe.

It's my hope that this author will have a better editor to make the story just a touch more believable. I have to wonder at how fast it was written and accepted. I'm amazed that Kristen Painter approved this story. *sigh*

I can suspend belief with the best of 'em, but this book simply didn't work at all for me. Now I'm contemplating the return of my credit, and most likely will never read another of this author's books, unless the reviews tell me it's worth taking a risk.

Don't read past this point if you don't want potential story spoilers.

Spoiler alerts!!

Within 24 hours of arriving in town she's 'probably in love' with a whiney dude. After running from a psycho boyfriend and driving across country with little sleep?

My brain simply kept saying 'That wouldn't happen that fast...'.. 'But he's acting like a whiney baby'.... etc. Or the 'She a human that just got beat the heck up! She's not gonna go for a romp... ' You get the idea. I'm hoping that a chunk of story got cut, and that the writer isn't as bad as I'm thinking right now.

Too many 'big' things (move, falling in love, meeting the bad guy, getting beat up by bad guy, sex, bad ex boyfriend showing up, losing her magic...) it happened too fast with not enough story in between to support the large changes.

This is a book perfect for all ages, as there is no sex (can you believe it?), but just good ol' science fiction/fantasy. My entire family (teenager and above) loved it! Personally, I loved it so much I listened a second time. This is on my list of books to read again... and again..

Bob signs up for a program to save his brain after his death, but wakes up to a much different future than he had anticipated. The humor shown throughout this book, as well as all the Star Trek and Star Wars references, is truly amusing.

The narrator kept all the different 'Bob's' separated, which I didn't think would be possible. He did an exceptional job in my opinion.

There are other reviews that give much more information. All I can tell you is that this book is WELL worth your time - and I wasn't sure about it at first. It's shot straight to the top of my list of favorites. Over here we're all waiting with bated breath for the next one in this series and I'll buy it the moment it shows up.

Seriously. What have you to lose? READ THIS BOOK! You'll thank me!

This is not a stand alone book, as it's set in the world developed by previous stories. I recommend starting with Prudence's Mother's story 'Soulless"' (Soul less) in the Parasol Protector series, of which there are 5 books. Then start off with this series, 'The Custard Protocol' (I'm still laughing at this name!) The Finishing School series is a stand alone and predates the beginning of Soulless. However, you don't have to listen to it first, but can start off with Soulless if you wish.

This story is quite witty, entertaining and surprising. I literally laughed out loud at times, while being moved almost to tears when the London Pack has a surprising change. In listening to this book I was so engaged in the story that I actually cleaned house while listening, just so I had a reason to put off my real work until later! LOL (I get bored when cleaning so I love listening to audiobooks as it makes the time fly by.)

I love Gail Carriger's writing and wit so much that I've attended one author signing at Powell's books and will be attending another next week. She creates strong female characters set in a steampunk world. All too often other authors only write where men must be alpha, which I get tired of. (I'm a natural pack leader myself) However, Gail's writing showcase's the way these female characters forge their way through the world, and in the process are quite entertaining. These are not women who are weak, or even looking for an alpha man, as they're quite capable of looking after themselves with the help of their friends. Each of the characters has their own strength, whether male or female.

When I learned of this new book in the series I couldn't wait. In fact, I counted the days until it was available and then stayed up till after midnight, just so I could purchase it right away on Audible.

This book isn't only entertaining for women either. My Sweetheart actually loves this series as much as I do! What a surprise! He's normally more into science fiction, mysteries and such, liking more mayhem and violence in his books than I do. But he equally likes Gail's writings and attended her signing event with me and will also be going to the next one.

Moira Quirk, as always, delightfully narrates in such a way that I hear the different personalities shining through. The voice for Prudence is especially entertaining, as it brings home the vibrant personality that Gail has created.

I really like this author and the world she has created in her writing. The stories kept me engrossed and wanting to keep listening, even though I had work to do!

In other Paranormal Romance books I am often bored by the explicit sex scenes (Nalini Singh for one) that take a full chapter, and I'm certainly not a prude! Imagine my delight with Kristen Painter's stories that show lots of attraction but do not go into detail.

My only complaint is that often things are tied up a bit too neatly, or ignored. There were quite a few times where these super talented 'Collectors' made mistakes - like leaving the perps in an auditorium unattended, just so they could have a personal conversation. These were annoyances and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5.

Overall I truly liked the stories and was thrilled to find all 3 in one audiobook. I will definitely listen to these again in the future. They're not books I will put on a virtual shelf for ignoring.

This is more of a play than an audiobook, as many actor voices are used in narration and include music sounds and soundtracks. Because it's a play with different voices it was hard to listen to while driving. The voices took me a while to figure out who was who, so I had to concentrate on the story instead of my driving. Not a good combo, so the stories had to wait. This frustrated me greatly.

Apparently this play format was a crowdfunded project and Gail Carriger was also the executive producer of this play/audiobook.

I greatly admire Gail and her writing, but in this case I should have purchased the written version rather than the audiobook. The play wasn't badly done, but it was confusing at times, and definitely not the level of professionalism and clarity I would have expected. The different voices, accents.. and in one story the character talked so fast I had to check and see if I'd accidentally hit the higher playback speed. On that one I couldn't even wash dishes while listening, as it had to take my full attention.

The first story includes an alternative lifestyle (Gay) theme, so if that bothers you then skip over that one. I found the story lines to be very simplistic. Honestly, only the last story focusing on Alex Terrabotti (spelling?) grabbed my interest like her Parasol Protector books have.

I'm sorry Gail, but I've had to rate the performance and stories only 3 stars. I'm even considering returning the book to Audible for a refund, then going and buying the written (or Kindle) version instead. I'm pretty sure I'd prefer the voices in my head over trying to figure out who was talking when. As a true admirer of yours it breaks my heart to write this review, but having met you in person (Portland, OR) my feeling is that you'd prefer honesty.

Being a researcher at the all-female Fitzgerald’s Bureau of Investigation in London is certainly a change of pace from her previous life, especially considering the characters Alison meets in the line of duty.

The Narrator does a good job, but the story.... immediately I have trouble with it as there is cocaine being snorted on top of a record album (which dates the story right there), mention of abortions, etc... and I'm not an uptight person, but I think the story can only go down from there. It's just not one for me.
