Where does Grow Your Confidence, Assertiveness & Self-Esteem rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Grow Your Confidence, Assertiveness & Self-Esteem ranks amongst the best books that I have read in a while. It is an excellent read and I would recommend it to anyone in search of a self-help book on the subject.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Grow Your Confidence, Assertiveness & Self-Esteem?

One of the most memorable moments for me is the teaching on EQ/EI (Emotional Intelligence). For me this was quite eye-opening as the connection to emotions and confidence is so close. I enjoyed learning more about myself and how I deal with emotions both my own and those of others.

Have you listened to any of Rachel Perry’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, this was my first time listening to this narrator. Rachel Perry is enjoyable.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, absolutely. I listened to this book in a matter of a few hours. I found myself wanting to know more.

Any additional comments?

This book is full of useful and practical information. Those that struggle with self-confidence and assertiveness are given not only information, but are challenged to participate in their own growth. This is more than a book, it is a seminar. Listening to the book felt more like being a part of a seminar geared at creating real, measurable change in participants. In addition to the information, the book is funny. The use of humor makes this book enjoyable and memorable. I did not want to stop listening. This is a must read!

What did you love best about How to Talk to Anyone?

This book is practical and easy to follow. The best part of the book is that Dr. Alison really understands and without judgment gives ways in which to overcome social awkwardness. The book helps anyone learn how to have a conversation that is easy and stress-free.

What did you like best about this story?

For me, the best part was learning how to actually have a real conversation. Conversation often becomes awkward when there is silence. Dr. Alison makes the reader become confident in holding a conversation.

Which character – as performed by Rachel Austin – was your favorite?

There were no characters but there were scenarios. I related to the person who has allowed social media and technology to take over and replace real conversation. As stated, my social awkwardness is heightened because of the ability to hide behind my computer. When I am faced with a real social situation I am out of my comfort zone.

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

The best take away in this book was the chapter on being a successful conversationalist. The list that Dr. Alison gives for the top 15 traits of a good conversationalists. I believe that if I apply her suggestions I will be able to talk to anyone. She suggests that I learn names, which is hard, but worth the effort. I know how special I feel when I am remembered.

Any additional comments?

This book is a must have for anyone who experiences social anxiety when faced with talking with other people. Dr. Alison addresses everything, from navigating a conversation with a cell phone, how to be liked, how to keep conversation light and empathetic, and how to keep conversations balanced. This book has helped me understand what I've done wrong in the past when it comes to conversation. By reading this book, and self-reflecting, the reader will change the way they feel about conversation, and recognize areas in themselves that need improvement.

Where does How to Stop Procrastination & Get More Done in Less Time! rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book ranks among the top 10%. It's a great book and very helpful.

What was one of the most memorable moments of How to Stop Procrastination & Get More Done in Less Time!?

I enjoyed learning about list making and sleep patterns most.

What does Christian Erickson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Christian was very melodic in his reading. I enjoyed hearing him.

What insight do you think you’ll apply from How to Stop Procrastination & Get More Done in Less Time!?

I plan on being more organized in my day. I will prioritize more and be sure to accomplish my goals daily.

Any additional comments?

This book by Graham Bianco is amazing. It’s a short book that gives clear cut solutions to the problem of procrastination that so many people deal with. The author is clear that there is no cure for procrastination but that it can be overcome. This book gives practical exercises that the procrastinator can implement daily. This book offers several ideas that may not resonate with each person, but the hope is that some things help the reader, as procrastination is multi-faceted and is not the same in every person. The reasons and the causes behind procrastination are individualized.
I enjoyed all the ideas and found that list making and prioritizing are most helpful to me. I tend to get distracted and before I know it my entire day is over and I haven’t accomplished anything that I needed to finish for that day. Creating a list will help me stay focused, and even when I get off track I can simply look at the list and resume productivity.
This book addresses everything, including sleep patterns. The author does a wonderful job of offering alternatives to all forms of procrastination. I think that it would be helpful for anyone who finds themselves putting off for another day things that could be finished on that day. This book even talks about how procrastination can be helpful in moderation, but how procrastination in general can hinder one from accomplishing goals.
The book uses the analogy of long distance runners a lot. If you are a runner, or know a runner you will really enjoy this book. You will understand exactly what the author is trying to convey. Likewise, for writers the author is very helpful in giving ideas on how to write daily. If you are not a writer, you can replace writing with whatever your goals are. Overall this is a great book and I recommend it highly.

What did you love best about Social Anxiety?

I loved the practicality of the book the most.

What did you like best about this story?

The case studies utilized in the book are very helpful to see ones own short-comings and fears.

Which character – as performed by Rebekah Amber Clark – was your favorite?

There were no real characters but my favorite concept was that about social media and how it's hindering our social interactions.

What did you learn from Social Anxiety that you would use in your daily life?

I learned how to be more aware of my anxiety and what has caused it. I have exercises that will help when tasked with a social engagement.

Any additional comments?

For those who have struggled with social anxiety, or know someone who is struggling, Dr. Alison gives practical solutions to their plight. This book is well written and easy to understand. It is clearly written with the finesse and expertise of a professional, but presented to the common person seeking real help. As someone who has experienced social anxiety for years, this book serves as an eye opener and comfort. I no longer feel alone and isolated in my condition and I have better understanding of why I am the way that I am.
The most powerful aspect of this book is the theory that social media plays a role in our inability to maneuver in social settings. As a society, so prone to internet connections and interaction we are losing the ability to communicate effectively when placed in a social setting. This can weight most heavily on those who have a social disorder. This book makes the reader think and evaluate, while giving helpful advice on how to conquer fear and anxiety. Using case study examples the reader will learn how to overcome.
This book is not magical, it does not offer a quick and easy solution. Rather, the author addresses common causes for anxiety and challenges the reader to self-evaluate and implement exercises to help cope. The goal is to make these coping exercises second nature. For anyone who finds themselves avoiding social settings this book will give a step by step, practical solution that can be used as often as necessary.
I would recommend this book, it is easy to read and very informative. Those who are bound by the restraints that social anxiety imposes on them should know that they can break free after reading this book. This book provides hope and assurance that their lives can change if they apply Dr. Alison’s suggestions.
