In 2003, 16-year-old Rebecca Winter disappeared. She'd been enjoying her teenage summer break: working at a fast-food restaurant, crushing on an older boy, and shoplifting with her best friend. Mysteriously ominous things began to happen - blood in the bed, periods of blackouts, a feeling of being watched - though Bec remained oblivious of what was to come.

This was a great story that grabs you from the very beginning. I liked that I didn't see the end coming, it kept me guessing without being too obvious. Very well written and narrated. definitely recommend to those who like sorry like Gone Girl or Girl on the Train.

It was a case guaranteed to spark a media feeding frenzy: a young mother, blond and pretty, disappears without a trace from her South Boston home, leaving behind her four-year-old daughter as the only witness and her handsome, secretive husband as the prime suspect. But from the moment Detective Sergeant D. D. Warren arrives at the Joneses - a snug little bungalow, she senses something off about the picture of wholesome normality the couple worked so hard to create.

the story grabs your intrigue from the very beginning. It's dark & disturbing in moments, I almost didn't think I could keep listening but once you get through it you understand why. overall, I enjoyed this story as much as Gone Girl but I appreciated the ending in more ways.

Struggled to finish this. I'm not a picky listener either, I'll listen to just about anything with an open mind but I had a hard time believing the love story here. I didn't feel that there were enough vulnerable moments to develop the kind of relationship they developed so quickly. the characters seemed really superficial.

I struggled to finish this one... I actually didn't. I like thriller/mystery/fiction, but I wasn't expecting this plot. It took a very weird, almost Paranormal turn for me that I'm just not a fan of. I wish the description did a better job at alluding to this.

On a night flight from London to Boston, Ted Severson meets the stunning and mysterious Lily Kintner. Sharing one too many martinis, the strangers begin to play a game of truth, revealing very intimate details about themselves. Ted talks about his marriage that's going stale and his wife, Miranda, who he's sure is cheating on him. Ted and his wife were a mismatch from the start - he the rich businessman, she the artistic free spirit - a contrast that once inflamed their passion but has now become a cliché.
