When Barry Fairweather dies unexpectedly in his early 40s, the little town of Pagford is left in shock. Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty façade is a town at war. Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils.... Pagford is not what it at first seems. And the empty seat left by Barry on the town's council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen.

Such a beautiful, sweet story about a love divine, yet never actually enjoyed. I enjoyed the interplay of the flashbacks and reflections of the grandmother's life, as the granddaughter explored the paths her own life offered. As Shakespeare said, " to thine own self be true" .

Jacob Hunt is a teen with Asperger's syndrome. He's hopeless at reading social cues or expressing himself well to others, though he is brilliant in many ways. But he has a special focus on one subject - forensic analysis. A police scanner in his room clues him in to crime scenes, and he's always showing up and telling the cops what to do. And he's usually right. But when Jacob's small hometown is rocked by a terrible murder, law enforcement comes to him. Jacob's behaviors are hallmark Asperger's, but they look a lot like guilt to the local police.

As a child psychiatrist, the story was very accurate in giving the details of high functioning ASD. But it went beyond to demonstrate the struggles and needs of each member of the family. When the typical son recognizes the atypical quirks of the brother, in his estranged father, I howled. The fact that there may be multiple atypicals in one family, functioning independently, and unacknowledged is a secret that many academics are reluctant to admit. Well done portrayal of the system and families of some of society's most difficult situations and diagnoses, once again by this outstanding author.

Director Comey outlined his principles and rationales for his actions in a detailed and authentic way. His description about his leadership style, family interactions, and intentional listening were all inspiring. The book reads as a real portrayal of white Male privilege, one that he struggled to escape. The other reviewers were correct, this was an amazing and well written book. I just finished Michelle Obama's book, Becoming, and Comey's descriptions of her husband aline quite well. sorry for being so verbose, but I was shocked that I liked this book and the author so muchl! The cherry on the top for me, would be to hear from his wife!!

The Big Leap: Conquer Your Hidden Fear and Take Life to the Next Level reveals one of the most common barriers to an individual's success: the upper limit problem (ULP), a self-imposed, subconscious limit for how much happiness and positivity someone can feel. Using research, case studies, and personal experience, Hendricks explores how the ULP can prevent someone from taking the Big Leap, or reaching his or her highest potential. (Disclaimer: This is NOT the original book. If you’re looking for the original book, it is available from Amazon and Audible.)

When you listen to this audiobook, you will make many assumptions. You will assume you are listening to a story about a jealous ex-wife. You will assume she is obsessed with her replacement - a beautiful, younger woman who is about to marry the man they both love. You will assume you know the anatomy of this tangled love triangle. Assume nothing. Twisted and deliciously chilling, The Wife Between Us exposes the secret complexities of an enviable marriage - and the dangerous truths we ignore in the name of love.
