Jamie Canning has never been able to figure out how he lost his closest friend. Four years ago, his tattooed, wisecracking, rule-breaking roommate cut him off without an explanation. So what if things got a little weird on the last night of hockey camp the summer they were 18? It was just a little drunken foolishness. Nobody died.

An amazingly pleasant surprise!
This is the first book I've read in its genre since I was a curious teenager who bought a naughty book at a bookstore in the airport in Copenhagen. I chose this book because of the amazing reviews. When it began and I realized it was a story about hockey players I nearly stopped listening since I'm not personally a hockey fan. I'm so glad I didn't. It's a story about hockey players, but it's so much more than that.
I was prepared for a poorly-written tale with some hopefully hot sex scenes riddled with cringeworthy dialogue. It wasn't that at all. It was a great story with fantastic narration that really caught my interest. It was an easy listen and I found that I couldn't stop listening, even pulling out my phone to listen to the story during my lunch breaks and, ahem, before bed.
The story was great, the characters were beautifully developed, and the sex scenes were HOT and so not sleazy. I don't think the sex scenes made me cringe a single time. They did, however, elicit plenty of other bodily reactions. Yep, I said it.
I wish they would make this into a movie. I'd be there to see it on opening night.

Jack Torrance's new job at the Overlook Hotel is the perfect chance for a fresh start. As the off-season caretaker at the atmospheric old hotel, he'll have plenty of time to spend reconnecting with his family and working on his writing. But as the harsh winter weather sets in, the idyllic location feels ever more remote...and more sinister. And the only one to notice the strange and terrible forces gathering around the Overlook is Danny Torrance, a uniquely gifted five-year-old.

Great story with excellent narration
I love Stephen King and this is one of my all-time favorites. I have to say that the narration is fantastic - probably the best I've ever listened to. Don't skip over this one. You'll be so glad you chose to listen!
