The trichinosis worm is one of nature's most revolting parasites. Certain types of this tiny worm alter a host's DNA by injecting a virus which mutates the reproductive system. This forces the host to bear the worm's young. Typically these worms are never longer than a few millimeters. But guess what? Now there’s a subspecies that's 30 feet long.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Maybe. I wouldn't go out of my to mention this book, but if someone asked me I would say its OK. I have read much worse.

Would you be willing to try another book from Karen Dionne? Why or why not?

Possibly. If it not the same formula as this book... e.g. minus arctic, plus volcano

What about Mark Boyett’s performance did you like?

Mark Boyett is usually always a good performer

Could you see Freezing Point being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Maybe a sci-fi channel movie..enter mostly no-name actors, maybe one recognizable actor.

Any additional comments?

Zoe was an idiot. Her stupidity should have killed her off early in the book. How can anyone that doesn't think about the consequences of her actions survive in such a harsh environment?

From storm drains, illegal dumps, and flooded landfills, all of North America's most advanced technology flows down the Mississippi River--microchips, nano-devices, pharmaceuticals, genetically modified seed--and lodges in the Louisiana delta. Out of this mire emerges a self-organized neural net, drifting in the water: the Watermind. It can freeze, boil, condense, and move--seemingly at will.

Who can I like?

I liked the premise of the book and the narrator did a good job. The story was OK but there was too much explicit sexual detail that took away from the story. Also there was no character that I could like. My personal preference maybe, but the main character, CJ was too much of a "loose cannon" that inflicted chaos in her own life by her unrestrained actions and immaturity. Her lifestyle was not very likable and made her not very likeable because her recklessness only served herself. She hurt all the closest people around her. I could not find anything I liked about her. Max was the most likable character, but he seemed to just bend with the wind and be in control of nothing. The best characters will draw the reader into their risk taking by hooking the reader in some way with their personality or likableness, but I found that lacking in CJ completely. This was definitely a read once book as none of the characters could be a friend with the reader except Max, but he seemed to be well defined as one of the weakest characters.

At first, only a few things are known about the celestial object that astronomers dub Rama. It is huge, weighing more than ten trillion tons. And it is hurtling through the solar system at inconceivable speed. Then a space probe confirms the unthinkable: Rama is no natural object. It is, incredibly, an interstellar spacecraft. Space explorers and planet-bound scientists alike prepare for mankind's first encounter with alien intelligence.

Great Book but monotone slow reading narrators

Overall
3 out of 5 stars

I read this book when I was in grade school and it is still a great book. The narrators however put me to sleep. Too much silent space between words and lack of emotion. Every word uttered, I was anxiously waiting for the next word, thinking "come on, come on, say the next word. Give it to me. I crave the next word. Don't make me wait any longer. My brain keeps wandering because you are reading sooo slowly."
