Fletcher Connolly hasn't got a lot to lose. Since he and half the galaxy signed on to the rat race of the technological relics trade, Fletch has come to terms with the idea that he will join the ranks of unlucky explorers that perish light years from home without a dime to his name. But bankruptcy is a great motivator. With friends and family counting on him to strike it rich, Fletch embarks on an unwilling quest for alien treasure.

I wasn't sure about it, but it got right into a solid SF story.
its not a sweeping space opera, its not too silly or ironic.
its a mid range solid adventure with likable characters and some fun sf.

I would say this is a breakfast at Denny's. Not hang over breakfast. Not job interview breakfast.
it's kind of breakfast with your dad before splitting a lot of wood.

What was most disappointing about M. L. Banner’s story?

it reads like an out line with way too much guilt and self loathing.

What aspect of Kevin Pierce’s performance would you have changed?

you get to know Kevin's style after a few books. He's right in the middle of the pack of readers in my opinion. not bad all in all.

Any additional comments?

i wish it was cheaper!

In an unspecified future, the United States' borders have receded behind a salt line - a ring of scorched earth that protects its citizens from deadly disease-carrying ticks. Those within the zone live safe, if limited, lives in a society controlled by a common fear. Few have any reason to venture out of zone, except for the adrenaline junkies who pay a fortune to tour what's left of nature. Those among the latest expedition include a pop star and his girlfriend, Edie; the tech giant Wes; and Marta, a seemingly simple housewife.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

A little back story for important characters is good but come on lady! i'm like "oh not again!" I kept waiting for the story to move forward and get to the killer ticks! nope. This is not a story about killer ticks. its about how people feel about themselves while they become mildly uncomfortable on vacation. boooooooo!

What three words best describe Hillary Huber’s performance?

"phone it in"

Any additional comments?

the writing was OK. The story telling was good, I just didn't like the story it told. i don't like soap operas much.

He's there to ski, drink brandy, and loaf around in blissful solitude. But he hadn't counted on the other vacationers, an eccentric bunch, including a famous hypnotist, a physicist with a penchant for gymnastic feats, a sulky teenager of indeterminate gender, and the mysterious Mr. and Mrs. Moses.

The author of the Mistborn trilogy and Elantris, Brandon Sanderson is winning abundant praise for this rollicking - and unusual - tale. Alcatraz Smedry can’t exactly be described as someone who doesn’t break things. In fact, he breaks lots of things. The truth is, he’s a major klutz. Breaking things, however, might just be the ace in the hole he needs when he goes up against a cabal of nefarious (gasp!) librarians.
