Rose Drayton lives on the Edge, between the world of the Broken (where people drive cars, shop at Wal-Mart, and magic is a fairy tale) and the Weird (where blueblood aristocrats rule, changelings roam, and the strength of your magic can change your destiny). Only Edgers like Rose can easily travel from one world to the next, but they never truly belong in either.

Would you listen to On the Edge again? Why?

I listen to a lot of audiobooks and sometimes it is difficult to find something different. On the Edge was a great listen right from the start. Interesting characters, great narration and the story line was fun and interesting

Who was your favorite character and why?

Rose - I like her spunk

Have you listened to any of Renée Raudman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is the first Renee Raudman performance I have listened to. She is a wonderful narrator and very easy and pleasant to listen to.

Lucas has paid for the crimes of his past for centuries, resisting any close relationship that might make his life even more difficult. Until Melena. Only she could begin to melt the ice shielding his heart, but then he was captured by his greatest enemies - angels.

If you could sum up Chained by Darkness in three words, what would they be?

Worth a credit

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator is not terrible but definitely needs some improvement. She has a good voice for narration. However, she ends almost every sentence in the same tone of voice - This keeps the listener from being drawn into the story in the way an experienced narrator can do.

Any additional comments?

I hesitated to purchase this book because I prefer a long audio book. However, if you have started this series and are enjoying it I believe this book 2.5 is an integral part of the story. I am enjoying the story line very much. I just wish the narrator didn't sound so much like she is reading one sentence at a time vs. telling the story.

In Los Angeles in 1988, a 16-year-old girl disappeared from her home and was later found dead of a gunshot wound to the chest. The death appeared at first to be a suicide, but some of the evidence contradicted that scenario, and detectives came to believe this was in fact a murder. Despite a by-the-book investigation, no one was ever charged.

This was a very good book. I am going to look for more Michael Connelley books with this main character.
