I give this book a 4.5 stars. What a cute, enjoyable , fantasy, YA story. I as an adult enjoyed it immensely. The mayor raider didn’t excellent job with voicing and acting out the characters. What I quite liked as well, was the addition of the musical selections to go along with the story. it really helped to bring alive the story.

I wasn’t impressed with this story. I couldn’t connect with the characters and was underwhelmed. The ending was left lingering with no real direction. I expected a different story and outcome based on the blurb and reviews.

What a great read. I connected with the characters early and enjoyed the flow of the book allowing the reader to listen to each individual characters story one at a time (I wasn’t sure I’d like this, but I did). I enjoyed the reminders of life lessons we can use and should remember when stuck or repeating the same types of mistakes, in order to continue forward and make progress out of a situation. I love how the characters learned about themselves, the love they shared and the beliefs they held about on another as the book went on. I’m usually pretty astute early on or at least by the middle as to where a book is taking me and though there were parts this still held true the author did a clever job had her twists and throwing in that moment to give you pause and say ah hah. I’m glad I read this.😁

What an interesting read. I enjoyed the authors ability to expound upon the relationship of abuse amongst intimate relations in this case family. She explored the many intricacies of mental abuse, helplessness, self loathing, self belief, brainwashing and the and inability help self or others that make up this destructive nature. The family dynamics and the lifestyle was although disturbing at times was easily seen. I didn’t feel as though I knew where this book was leading which for me is a bonus. I was pleased to note that despite the disruptive upbringing, the main character was able to push through and continue learning about the unknown and challenging her reality growing up delivered to her by her father and family beliefs.

Such a good book. I give it 4.5 stars as some essays I didn’t connect with however I love, love, love, the authors sense of wry humor. Her type A personality mimicked mine and her after thoughts when she made or didn’t. Are a decision could have been taken straight from my head. Most of the essays made me laugh in collaboration with her knowing and feeling the same way. I recommend this book.

I enjoyed this book. The flow of the story and use of two time periods was nice. The author was able to keep the readers interest however following the characters in the beginning was a bit challenging. Once everyone was introduced it was better to follow the storyline. I enjoyed he characters and although parts of the book were predictable enough of the story had you guessing.

I like a good fantasy book! This book entwines fantasy with cultural real beliefs causing you to wonder where the line divides. I enjoy when the narrator can read with the native accents lending to believability of the characters. Although he characters are children the author does a decent job of developing them especially the main character. I was pleased enough that I will read the sequel to this book. Great read for youth and adults who are able to listen with an open mind and enjoy the journey.

Not what I usually read however the author took me on a glorious experience.

My favorite quotes that sums up this book and resonates with me is- “As I get older, I’m coming to believe that being in love is less and less important, but loving people is more so. Friendship is the thing. Loving one’s friends. And accepting them as they are.”
This story encompasses mystery, art, music, history and a very different kind of love story. It touched on some interesting themes about life and love. Although I didn’t agree with the choices made by Emma, I loved her consistency to her true self. Author allows you to see and feel the settings and emotions of the characters she devised.
