Navy SEAL Ian Dunn went rogue in a big way when he turned his talents to a lawless life of jewel heists and con jobs - or so the world has been led to believe. In reality, the former Special Ops warrior is still fighting for good, leading a small band of freelance covert operatives who take care of high-stakes business in highly unofficial ways. That makes Ian the hands-down choice when the US government must breach a heavily guarded embassy and rescue a pair of children kidnapped by their own father, a sinister foreign national willing to turn his kids into casualties.

One of the best books I've ever read/listened to in the romance genre. It is well written with a poignant story line, engaging character development and a plot that's an emotional roller coaster. The description is accurate so in the interest of avoiding spoilers I won't expand on the storyline other than to say the key characters have real charisma with each other and there is a great balance of reality, romance and sexual connection. This is a book I come back to again and again, which is rare since I usually never read a book twice (with the exception of the Outlander series).

The telegram Samantha Sawyer Rodriguez holds is her key to freedom: her late uncle, Ezra, has left her his ranch in Sweetwater Springs, Montana. At last, she and her young son will have a true home, and she can finally pursue her dreams of raising her prized miniature horses and building a sanctuary for wayward orphans. Prosperous rancher Wyatt Thompson has long coveted that river property. It’s bad enough that Ezra’s niece refuses to sell it, but worse by far that she’s stubborn, proud, and beautiful.

Adam had hoped to have time alone with his sweetheart, Rebecca, but December snow is falling hard and the poorly clothed, hungry boys need his help. Adam takes them home never expecting the arrangement could become permanent. Being an only son is not a position Adam wants to give up, not does he want to share Rebecca’s affection with the older boy.

A welcome addition to the series, albeit somewhat out of sequence and a little short to be considered 'Book 5". It was more like a novella that focused on developing a character from a previous book. Unfortunately the 'previous book' was Book 6. This had me perplexed since I had already listened to the first 4 books but things fit into place much better after I downloaded and listened to Book 6.

There are tears and joy as Hannah struggles to come to terms with the loss of her young husband in Iraq and move forward to find love again while still embracing his memory. As always, Christina Taister does a great job with narration.

I have enjoyed the books in this series and eagerly downloaded this listen. Even though I was aware that, with a '10.5' series designation, it wouldn't be a full book I was somewhat surprised by its brevity and linear focus. If you're a fan of this series and familiar with Jarred and his situation it's probably worth downloading, otherwise it's best to start somewhere else. One complaint I've had throughout the series is Holly Fielding's narration and unfortunately it's the same is still the case with this listen.

I enjoyed this book every bit as much as the first two in the series. Admittedly it follows the same format and has a degree of predictability but it is a historical romance and part of a series so that was expected. The story and characters were fresh and engaging and it provided a welcome continuation of the Yellowstone saga. Nick Sarando did a credible job with the narration although he's not my favourite narrator.
