Lady Alexia Maccon, soulless, is at it again, only this time the trouble is not her fault. When a mad ghost threatens the queen, Alexia is on the case, following a trail that leads her deep into her husband's past. Top that off with a sister who has joined the suffragette movement (shocking!), Madame Lefoux's latest mechanical invention, and a plague of zombie porcupines and Alexia barely has time to remember she happens to be eight months pregnant. Can Alexia determine who is trying to kill Queen Victoria?

Another wonderful missive about Miss Terabodi. Nice climax and sweet little conclusion. I listen to audio books as I travel between where I live and home. This series has been wonderful in making the miles fall away. Will miss this series after this next book--Timeless.

Quitting her husband's house and moving back in with her horrible family, Lady Maccon becomes the scandal of the London season. Queen Victoria dismisses her from the Shadow Council, and the only person who can explain anything, Lord Akeldama, unexpectedly leaves town. To top it all off, Alexia is attacked by homicidal mechanical ladybugs, indicating, as only ladybugs can, the fact that all of London's vampires are now very much interested in seeing Alexia quite thoroughly dead.

I will be sad when this series comes to an end....they are becoming old friends. This is kinda a bridge book, one that moves you along the story line. Not a whole lot of action/interaction, but one in which the minor characters, that we met before, take on a bit more depth. Predictable but fun....looking forward to number 4.

Alexia Maccon, the Lady Woolsey, awakens in the wee hours of the midafternoon to find her husband, who should be decently asleep like any normal werewolf, yelling at the top of his lungs. Then he disappears, leaving her to deal with a regiment of supernatural soldiers encamped on her doorstep, a plethora of exorcised ghosts, and an angry Queen Victoria.

I enjoyed it quite as much as the first book in this series and am looking forward to the 3rd. If I've a complaint it's that Connal is a bit thick or the author thinks her readers are. That being said, I'm looking forward to what amount of trouble Alexa can get herself into.

Don't generally read/listen to romance novels (more into Sci Fi), but needed a diversion that was already downloaded, while traveling between Las Cruces and Albuquerque. Liked it so much i listened to the rest while here instead of waiting to return. Think I'll listen to the next one....lol...to see if it's just as good.

A devastating disaster has left the Forbidden Court in ashes, its fountains destroyed, and its magic at risk. It was destined as the site of Trynne Kiskaddon's coronation as empress. Now, all Trynne can imagine is the roar of flames, the cries of Gahalatine's people, and the smell of cinders in a city gone dark. Tragic as the threat to Kingfountain is, it's nowhere near as foul as the treachery posed by Morwenna.
