On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester's Mill, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener's hand is severed as "the dome" comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when - or if - it will go away.

Great story but the narrator used the same vocal inflection for all the women and read with the same tone during the intense parts and he did during the slow parts.

Wow! This audiobook/audiodrama is such an excellent production. There are many lessons to be learned, all of which are masterfully woven into the fabric of this beautiful story. I will listen to this again. And again. And again many times over.

It is a grand journey until you arrive at the last book: Journey to the Center of the Earth. The audio is atrocious. It sounds like it was recorded on a pair of headphones with a microphone. Such a shame to ruin a great story with poor production.
