All Cynthia was planning for the weekend was a quick escape to the countryside, where her inner dragon can stretch its wings. She wasn’t counting on a handsome, enigmatic wolf shifter coming along and sweeping her off her feet. Cynthia has always been driven by duty rather than desire. But suddenly, she finds herself making reckless, irresponsible choices and telling herself, "Just this once...." A night of sizzling passion ensues, but the question remains: Is Cal to blame for making her throw caution to the wind - or is it destiny?

I enjoyed this short prequel to Cynthia's story. It gave us a peek into Cynthia's mind. This little glimpse into their meeting was steamy. Definitely makes me want to jump into the next book.

I enjoyed the narrator performance as well.

Up until now Del and Anjali 's romance was my favorite of the group. Chase and Sophie topped that. I loved how the story focused on their love romance while the pearl was less prominent. I loved how Chase handled the dogs and didn't compete, but understood their devotion to Sophie and hers to them. Loved, loved, loved Darcy!

I've appreciated the narrator's skills improving of the course of listening to Ms. Lowe's books.

I'm looking forward to listening to Rebel Heart next.

Sadly, I did not find this a satisfying ending to the series. It felt rushed and like a whole lot of stuff was missing. The ending felt predictable and cliche. It some ways it felt like this was a term paper written the day before it was due so no heart was involved in the story. I doubt that's true, but that's the how I came away feeling. Yes, it wrapped some things up, but left a whole lot up in the air. I really hope the next series about Nick's son clarifies things.

Mr Graham's performance was excellent as always. The issue was not with him at all.

These two are my favorite couple in this yummy spin-off. I love how they connected right from the start. It was nice to see how their relationship allowed Del develop and mature. He went from playboy to devoted dad and mate. Anjali was as spunky as they come. I loved how her outlook changed and developed as well.

Something I truly enjoyed was how Del considered little Joey’s feelings after Quinn arrived. He didn’t stop being Joey’s buddy or make him feel left behind/out. He included Quinn in their interactions so Joey felt almost like a big brother to her. Cynthia’s interactions with Del were quite revealing throughout the story.

Still, I have to say that I was a bit ticked at Cynthia and Connor for a while. I could sort of understand Cynthia’s point of view since she hadn’t known Del that long, but at the same time I thought it was a bit hypocritical of her. AND…Connor allowing her to change his mind about Del was just WRONG. I was fully in Del’s corner after that.

We got a brief glimpse of Cruz and Jodi in this book, but that was all from the original gang. I enjoyed the timing of their cameo. I thought it was very fitting.

I'm looking forward to Chase and Sophie's story.

As usual Ms. Lowe's storytelling is wonderful and Ms. Osborne's narration brought it to life. Tim's angst over telling Hailey about being a shifter was palpable and my heart ached for him. Hailey's disillusionment with her mom broke my heart. I had such a wonderful relationship with my mom that hurts me to see/read about difficult mother/daughter relationships. I'm so glad that Hailey has Tim and her new family at the Koakea Plantation and Koa Point.

I loved Del and little Joey's relationship. The big bad lion shifter turns into cuddly putty tat (borrowed from Tweety bird). I love how he always knew just the right way to encourage and distract the boy. Cynthia's reactions are hilarious. I have a son and can totally relate to her reactions to his adventurous spirit. Little boys are tough on mama's hearts. *lol*

I'm looking forward to listening to Dell's story next.

I loved the previous series set in Hawaii and this new one is just as good. The cameos from the folks of Koa Point are perfect. It was great seeing interactions with Kai, Tessa, Jody, and Cruz.

I really liked idea of a myriad shifter and that he was the father of several our rebels in this series, Connor, Tim, and Chase. He's able to shift into different forms rather than a single animal--which gave us dragon, bear, and wolf half-siblings. That could be handy, but it sure made things difficult for his offspring. Well, that and the fact he was a deadbeat father.

Jenna and Connor were a great couple to get to know. I loved how he was trying to protect her from himself while she was deliberately enticing him. Jenna's difficulties getting used to knowing shifters exist is well done and realistic.

I found the pearl backstory intriguing and am looking forward to the rest of the series.

Desert fox shifter Ella Kitt is better at risking her life than her heart. Not that she expects to do either when she flies to Maui to help her special forces comrades with an easy security job. Or maybe not such an easy job, because she’s forced to work - and live - in close quarters with smoking-hot army hero Jake McBride. Jake isn’t just the one-night stand she can’t forget - he’s also a human, totally off-limits to shifters of her kind.

I was so happy to see Ella get a book. There was always something intriguing about her. I loved her with Jake. I ached every time Ella would remind her fox why she couldn't mate with Jake. The smexy scene in the hotel was scorching!

I truly loved how Jake handled finding out about shifters and didn’t let it scare him away from the woman he loved or his friends. It showed what a strong person he really is.

The ending was somewhat predictable as we know the main characters will ride off into the sunset together. Still…it was a satisfying ending to the series.

Ms. Lowe did a great job of weaving the 5 books into a great series to read and/or listen. Ms. Osborne’s narration was well done as well.

While this series is complete, Moira is still out there somewhere planning her evil schemes. Thank goodness we have a spin-off series coming so we can eventually see her downfall. I'm hoping the original Island crew has cameos so we can peek in on their lives.

I totally loved this story! Silas has been a favorite character of mine since book 1. There is just something about a brooding fiercely protective dragon that I can’t resist. Ms. Lowe did an excellent job of telling Silas and Cassandra’s love story. It was so enjoyable to listen to their back and forth bantering. I especially loved the scene where Cassandra teased Silas about his library and the books being out of order.

We finally got to hear and see Drax and Moira and they were both as evil as the previous books indicated. Moira was worse than Drax, imo. After hearing the whole backstory of her and Silas and her behavior in this story, I truly hated her and wished she met the same fate as her slimy evil boyfriend.

I’m looking forward to the final installment of the series with fox shifter, Ella.

I loved listening to this story. Lorelei King does a masterful job of bringing the characters to life. Of course, she had great material to work with as Evanovich did a great job with all the characters.

Speaking of the characters, I loved Emerson and Riley. Their back and forth banter was funny as heck. I loved how Emerson is so oblivious while Riley is so down to earth. The really balance one another out. I liked the way the romance was starting. I also loved Vernon and was constantly laughing at his antics. I also found the Buddhist monk Wayan Bagus hilarious as well. The back and forth with Vernon and Wayan was fantastic. I especially loved the “lucky gun” and how Wayan handled that.

While the story was a bit unbelievable at times, that aspect didn’t diminish my enjoyment. I felt it mixed the right amount of suspense, believability and humor.

I sure hope there is a third book in the series.
