Sophie Wilkins - bookworm and smoothie chef extraordinaire - has moved to Maui for a reminder of all the beauty and love in the world. And love is what she gets from the shy, retiring, and utterly gorgeous man she meets. Chase is everything her lonely heart has ever yearned for - quiet, unassuming, and kind. Mysterious, too, with a raw, animal intensity that appeals to a wild side she never knew she had. But evil forces from Sophie's past are ruthlessly hunting her down. Can she escape that world of hate and fear before it is too late?

I loved listening to Chase's story.

Chase has had a solitary existence, seeing as how he started life in an actual wolf pack. He has only recently become more attached to his human side... which coincides directly with his meeting Sophie, the pretty lady who works the smoothie truck.

Sophie has her own interesting upbringing, which led to her coming to Maui for a fresh start; one greatly enhanced by a daily visit from hunky Chase. However, these two have some obstacles that are in the way of them finding their happily ever after. Will they be able to overcome them or not? I suggest you read (or listen) to find out.

Standalone story but interconnected with the series for enhancement.

Boy, I'll tell you what, Anna never disappoints!

This is book 3 in the pearls of desire series, which comes hot on the heels of the other aloha shifter series. This is Dell's story - laid back lion who is good with kids, finds out that he in fact has his own child. Anjali fulfills her promise to bring Dell his child after a brutal murder makes Dell the only parent around. She didn't expect to do more than that, but Dell is more than what he seems. ..and there's the pesky problem of bad guys trying to kill one or of them

If you haven't read these books, you really should. Each can be read by themselves, but the true depth of the story arcs can be best appreciated by reading them from beginning (book 1) to this latest.

Kinsey has been taken from Team 52 headquarters, and now the team is searching out a way for her safe return. Especially Smith Creed, loner and all around bad@**, who takes it particularly hard. He and Kinsey have been circling around each other for a while, and it is only now that she's in danger that he realizes how much she means to him... and how far he's willing to go to get her back.

Seriously, other than his one hangup, I want a Smith Creed! Read this series. The bad guys are very persistent (I mean, yeah Kinsey is in danger multiple times, but how else are we able to keep her active in the book? Think about it) but the good guys are not about to let them win. Oh, and if you haven't seen the Treasure Hunter Security series yet, you should do that too -they have some crossover and are great as well.

This tenth book delves right back into the story we left off of in #9, Guardian. Because of Samantha's sacrifice in staying behind, Ever has been rescued from Zaahba and is safe and sound, albeit pregnant. Magnus is a cyborg that never thought he could even have kids, let alone have no memory of the night of conception, but he is in fact Ever's 'baby daddy'. It is great to see him struggle with his 'human' feelings toward Ever and their upcoming family all while trying to refind Zaahba, destroy it, save Sam, and keep Ever and their baby safe.

While this strays from the gladiator arena and even the House of Galen, which I love, I am more than willing to go on the journey outward if it means we can read about these characters and their world for a bit longer.

Super pumped to read what comes next. Always a pleasure to read Anna's books!

Love, love, love!

This second book picks up where we left off, but focuses on Callum this time. He is sent on a mission that should be routine because there seems to be no major valuables that would attract the unsavory Silk Road villians. This expedition to find the temple of God-King Jayavarman II in Cambodia.

Before he even gets started, Callum meets and is attracted to photographer Dani. He soon gets sidetracked, however, when he notices what look like members of Silk Road during a mugging attempt. The routine mission turns life-threatening when they realize that rumors of possibly finding King Jayavarmin II's actual Linga artifact have indeed caused Silk Road's unwanted attention.

As with Undiscovered, there is romance, suspense, and an mythical element that adds depth and credence to the story. Thoroughly enjoyable. Can hardly wait for the next one.
*On a side note, I'd just recently watched Expedition Unknown with Josh Gates which featured King Jayavarmin II, lingas, and nagas... which only enhanced my reading as Anna was dead on in her information.

While admittedly on earth and not some other planet, Undiscovered is a wonderful start to another series by Anna Hackett. Take an archeologist, a newly discovered dig site, some bad guys, some good guys, and a whole lot of chemistry and you have an idea of what to expect from this book.

Dr. Layne Rush is the head archeologist on this latest dig in Egypt when an attack and theft of artifacts forces her to accept the help of Treasure Hunter Security run by Declan Ward. Declan believes this to be the work of a well-known, very dangerous enemy and must find a way to keep Layne safe. This is increasingly difficult when an information leak is revealed after finding key pieces to a maybe-not-so-mythical place of untold riches and historic value. The terminator-like relentless bad guy will stop at nothing to get what he wants, but Layne is determined to find the site first and protect what remains. It is a gripping story with characters you root for and some twists you might not see coming, but which definitely add to the enjoyment of the read. Very nice use of Egypt and is history of the gods.

Hunter and his team are called in when a newly discovered artifact is unearthed from arctic ice. Rowan is one of the researchers who fended off the attack and lived to tell the tale.

This is a great start to a new, but still connected, series! I loved the dynamic between the two main characters as well as the glimpses of familiar characters too. Intriguing storyline and one I'm looking forward to continuing to read.

Rebel Bear is book 2 of the latest series by Anna Lowe and she hasn't disappointed me ever. I loved reading about Tim and Hailey and think you will too, even though I encourage you to read from the beginning in order to get the most out of all the connected bits.

Hailey is set up by her mother to marry Jonathan, a rich but not quite nice man. When she runs away from the surprise wedding she didn't want or agree to, her plight comes to the attention of Tim, a bear shifter who feels a pull to help her. Hailey doesn't know Tim, but she feels safe with him just the same. The journey is full of obstacles, which I won't divulge, but can say that I'm happy to be able to keep reading these books as long as Anna keeps writing them.

Rillian is a successful casino owner and is overseeing Dayna's recovery, considering that she now has to deal with a symbiont implanted during her ordeal...and he already has one and can relate.

Dayna has been rescued from her latest captor, but is forever changed as she is now a host to a symbiont. She is rushing through her recovery in order to get back out in search for her sister and one other still held in the mystical Zhaaba. But she keeps being distracted by her attraction to Rillian, casino owner and general bad***.

When people start turning up dead accompanied with threatening notes to stop dealing with the House of Galen, Rillian knows this has to end. When they go after someone even closer to him, Rillian vows to stop them, whatever it takes.

Love this! I got some clues to new likely pairs, revisited familiar ones, and can only hope this series continues for as long as possible.
