  • The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck

For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

I'm not used to hearing the "F-Word" used so much, sentence after sentence, with such vigor and honestly, I don't think it was needed, but I figured as much with the book title. But once past the "Shock and Awe", it's a very good book. Great points and stories. Good reflection and musings. It's nothing new or life changing. Just a good remembrance of things we should keep in front of our minds/think of every so often. I really enjoyed the production. It's great when the Author does the reading, as you can tell his heart is in it, and he has a great speaking voice. I'd definitely recommend the book.

Neil Gaiman has long been inspired by ancient mythology in creating the fantastical realms of his fiction. Now he turns his attention back to the source, presenting a bravura rendition of the great northern tales. In Norse Mythology, Gaiman fashions primeval stories into a novelistic arc that begins with the genesis of the legendary nine worlds; delves into the exploits of the deities, dwarves, and giants; and culminates in Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods and the rebirth of a new time and people.

I always enjoy listening to NG & I hope to see him speak Live next month in OC. This book was a fun listen. I learned a lot about Norse Mythology that I didn't know, all while enjoying the fun stories. This was a great book to "Take a Break" from more serious reads, that make you wonder "Who did it? or Whats going to happen next?" I felt like a kid sitting around a campfire, hearing the stories of those who came before me. Thanks Neil.. you never disappoint.

This is a phenomenal book, with life lessons that everyone should hear or read. Everyone is always wondering how to do this or that, where to get the information to achieve something they don't know where to start at, will this book has almost all the information you need. It's a great inspiration to get off your butt, and get started on your life dreams. The only thing I didn't like, was in the beginning, and sometime throughout, he will drag on about how or why this book is going to benefit your life. I understand that you need reference, but talking about the money he made the money he now makes where he travels where he stays eccentric, got a little old. But if you get past that, and don't get me wrong, it's not throughout the whole book all the time, all the lessons and experiences dimensions, will change your life if you put it to use

Present moment awareness is an essential ingredient in life if one expects to experience any degree of authentic peace and contentment. It has been acknowledged for centuries as the cornerstone of spiritual awakening in all traditions of Eastern thought. In the West, however, it is still a relatively unrecognized concept for living. The Western mind is always restless, never content with the moment.

I really did enjoy the book. Author has an easy to understand way of putting things which I will definitely implement into my life. my only problem with the book was the narrative. I wish they would've spent the $$ on a professional reader. I'm not sure why they didn't, everyone has their reasons for things, but it was definitely "Read". But the information in it is very eye opening & I will be listening again soon with a pad & pen, taking notes. Worth the $$, just go into hearing the reading of it with an open mind.

I've been a fan of Neils' writing since my 1st encounter. I love that he reads his own books on Audible. American God's & Anasi Brothers both used different performers for effect & is beautifully done. I've not been disappointed with any of his books. This book, for those thinking of buying, is probably 70% different than the movie!
