A lot of questions answered from Mazalan book of the fallen. The Tiste are such a mysterious people to the modern world, but their beginnings are pretty mundane

The further along the series goes, the author spends more and more time on philosophical reflections, and less on moving the plot along. Hopefully all the threads will come together in the last book.

This is my 2nd time around with this series and I love it even more. All the plot lines are slowly and subtly being woven together and I can see it more clearly the 2nd time around. Even though I was disappointed not to continue on with Whiskey jack and Crupp et al, this plot line is so engaging I will forgive Stevenson lol. Even though this is a long series, it is so worth it!!! The narrator is great and his different accents are almost exactly what I heard in my head when I first read these books. This is a epic fantasy classic

Finally we get back to killing demons! After being disappointed with the last 2 books I am relieved to say that this book was awesome! Battling corelings, taking down evil, and saving the world! all the characters stopped being annoying and finally started fighting demons. There were somethings that I am not clear on the motivation for (elisha's child is all I am going to say) but otherwise a very enjoyable read.

I enjoyed this book even though I didn't read the powder mage series. There are minor references to the past but it doesn't confuse the story. Very interesting action sequences. Great narraration

Fast paced action, danger, and crocodile people made this book a fun and exciting read. I loved that even though there was a good ending it wasn't all unicorns and rainbows, the people still had to do a lot to save their own world. My only small complaint is that the answer to their questions seemed simplistic. I was hoping for a bigger reason to the troubles of the universe. I don't think I worded that right but I didn't want to reveal any spoilers.

More filler than the first but good book!

This is the 2nd book in the series and I enjoyed almost as much as the first book. I love that the characters have flaws and real emotions, there are no Mary Sue's or farm boys who are war gods the first time they touch a blade. My biggest complaint is that not much happened except the main characters traveling. Some big truths were discovered but this could have been streamlined. Cut the filler in half and combine with next book. The narration is great. Will definitely read next one.

While this was a very well written book, the characters did not draw me in. Even if I don't like a character in a book, I want to care what happens to them. In this book I really didn't care what happened to the main heroine. It made this book a little boring but I give it 3 stars for the awesome world building and writing and magic system, which were very original.

such a let down after the last book.

all filler and no action. Nothing was resolved and the plot barely moved. How is Weeks going to wrap it up in one more book when nothing happened in this one? I am super disappointed. At least more about the jinn could have been explained. Too many loose ends to tie up in one book.
