My name is Jemma Blackburn, and I have a secret. I know vampires are real. I watched one murder my father eight months ago, and even though they tried to convince me it didn't happen - that I'd lost touch with reality due to the trauma, I know what I saw was real. Hollow Hills is now the place I call home. It was supposed to be my chance at a normal life. My chance to bury my secret and start over.

I'm sorry but the concept of this story, I should have loved it... but I didn't. There are some definite poor word choices used in this one, actions and body language that don't match but I think the severity of my review and my DNF of it is based on the narrator's performance. Dear heavens woman, every sentence is over dramatic and too drawn out! Lack of real emotion in words, paired with the over amplified attempting suspense lilting was HORRIBLE and embarrassing. Good luck - maybe I'll read the Kindle edition and see if it improves my thoughts on the story but dear heavens get another narrator!!!!

David Federman has never felt appreciated. An academically gifted yet painfully forgettable member of his New Jersey high school class, the withdrawn, mild-mannered freshman arrives at Harvard fully expecting to be embraced by a new tribe of high-achieving peers. But, initially, his social prospects seem unlikely to change, sentencing him to a lifetime of anonymity. Then he meets Veronica Morgan Wells. Struck by her beauty, wit, and sophisticated Manhattan upbringing, David falls feverishly in love.

I think the part that is most unsettling is that it is so realistic. David is the guy that you met, that self entitled yet unassuming "nice guy" that gave you the creeps. I think everyone has come across something like this in their life. If you were the victim of a stalker or a sexual assault this story could be triggering to you and I don't recommend it for you. It's an excellent character study of someone that after the first oh, I'd say third of the book is over you will come to loathe and be sickened by him.
