Deep below the University, there is a dark place. Few people know of it: a broken web of ancient passageways and abandoned rooms. A young woman lives there, tucked among the sprawling tunnels of the Underthing, snug in the heart of this forgotten place. Her name is Auri, and she is full of mysteries. The Slow Regard of Silent Things is a brief, bittersweet glimpse of Auri’s life, a small adventure all her own. At once joyous and haunting, this story offers a chance to see the world through Auri’s eyes. And it gives the reader a chance to learn things that only Auri knows.... In this book, Patrick Rothfuss brings us into the world of one of The Kingkiller Chronicle’s most enigmatic characters. Full of secrets and mysteries, The Slow Regard of Silent Things is the story of a broken girl trying to live in a broken world.

I don't often write reviews, but I have to for this one. I'd heard a lot of negative and iffy reviews about this book and so I put it off. But this look and insight into Auri is a beautiful and delightful piece of work and I regret not listening to it sooner. Pat does a wonderful job narrating it in my opinion.

When Robert Jordan died in 2007, all feared that these concluding scenes would never be written. But working from notes and partials left by Jordan, established fantasy writer Brandon Sanderson stepped in to complete the masterwork.

This is my 4th or 5th listening of this book. It is still a masterpiece. I have no qualms saying I laugh out loud and even tear up a bit in several places every time. Brandon Sanderson, you did a wonderful thing with this series and finishing it up. I truly appreciate your work here. Robert Jordan, I know you got to read this work out there somewhere and are as proud of it as can be. Rest in Peace.

There is no way to write a blurb for this final book without spoiling all of the others. Suffice it to say, mysteries resolve, dragons war, pigeons abound, and Julius must risk himself in ways he never dreamed possible as Bob's grand plan finally comes to fruition.

Would you listen to Snapshot again? Why?

I probably wouldn't listen to it again like all of Sanderson's other works.

Any additional comments?

While the book is well written like all of Sanderson's works it is much more gritty and violent than most of his books. My wife says it almost feels like Brandon was mad at his other characters and had to take it out on someone. It is well read though.
